26:1  Ta. Sin. Mim.
26:2  Those are the signs of the book which make things clear.
26:3  Perhaps you are going to vex yourself that they be not believers [in this book].
26:4  If We had wished, We would have sent down on them from the heaven a sign so that their necks would remain bowed down for it in abject humility.
26:5  And never comes to them from Ar-Rahman a newly revealed remembrance but that they turn their face away from it in arrogance.
26:6  And indeed they have belied [the remembrance] and soon will come to them the true tidings about that which they used to mock at.
26:7  Have they not looked at the earth,- how many things We have caused to grow in it of every graceful kind.
26:8  Truly in this surely is a sign but most of them are not believers.
26:9  And truly your Lord, He surely is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:10  And when your Lord called upon Moses that, “Come to the people who have wronged their own souls;
26:11  the people of Pharaoh.” Will they not safeguard their own souls?
26:12  He said, “O My Lord, I fear that they will belie me.
26:13  And my chest will be constricted and my tongue will not loosen up therefore appoint Aaron a messenger
26:14  and they have a right over me and I fear that they will kill me.
26:15  He [Allah] said, “Not at all [do not fear]. Both of you go with Our signs. We are with you listening.
26:16  So both of you come to Pharaoh and say, ‘We are the messenger of the Lord of the worlds’
26:17  ’So send with us the children of Israel’.”
26:18  He [Pharaoh] said, “Did we not raise you as a child among us and did you not stay among us many years of your life?
26:19  And you did that deed of yours that you did and you are of those who are ungrateful”.
26:20  He [Moses] Said, “I did it then when I was of those who are not well guided.
26:21  So I fled from you when I feared you so my Lord granted me wisdom and appointed me as one of the messengers.
26:22  And is that a favor of which you boast to me even though you have enslaved the children of Israel”.
26:23  And Pharaoh said, “And what is the Lord the worlds?”
26:24  He [Moses] said, “The Lord of the heavens and of the earth and whatever is in between if you have certitude.”
26:25  And he said to those around him, “Do you not hear?”
26:26  He said, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.”
26:27  He said, “Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is surely a madman.”
26:28  He said, “The Lord of the east and of the west and what is between them if you truly understand.”
26:29  He [Pharaoh] said, “If you take anyone else other than me as a god, then most certainly I will make you one of those who are imprisoned.”
26:30  He [Moses] said, “What if I bring you something which is clear.”
26:31  He [Pharaoh] said, “Bring it then if you are of those who are the truthful.”
26:32  Then he [Moses] cast his staff and Lo! It is a plain serpent.
26:33  And he pulled out his hand and Lo! It appeared [shining] white for the beholders.
26:34  He [Pharaoh] said to the chieftains around him, “Truly this is surely a well learned magician.
26:35  He is seeking to drive you out of your land through his magic so what do you advise?”
26:36  They said, “stay him and his brother for a while and send collectors in the cities.
26:37  So that they bring unto you every well learned magician.”
26:38  So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a specific day.
26:39  And it was said unto the people, “Are you going to gather?”
26:40  That we may follow the magicians if it is they who are the victors.
26:41  So when the magicians came they said to Pharaoh, “Is there indeed a reward for us if it is we who are the victors?”
26:42  He said, “Yes indeed and you truly will then be of those who are drawn near [unto us].”
26:43  Moses said to them, “Throw that which you are going to throw.”
26:44  So they threw their ropes and their sticks and they said, “By the honour of Pharaoh, it is certainly we who are going to be the victors.”
26:45  And Moses threw his stick and Lo! It was swallowing all the falsehoods which they fake!
26:46  Immediately the magicians fell down in prostration.
26:47  They said, “We believe in the Lord of the worlds;
26:48  Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
26:49  He [Pharaoh] said, “You believed in him before I had given you permission. Truly he is surely your leader who has taught you the magic and soon you will come to know. I will most certainly cut your hands and your legs from opposite sides and most certainly I will crucify you all altogether.”
26:50  They said, “No harm in the least. We are going to return to our Lord.”
26:51  We fervently hope that our Lord will absolve us of our faults since we were the first of the believers.
26:52  And We sent our inspiration to Moses that travel by night with My servants, for you indeed are going to be pursued.
26:53  Then Pharaoh sent collectors to the cities.
26:54  That these are but a band of few.
26:55  And they truly are rancorous towards us.
26:56  And we therefore are all truly alert.
26:57  So We expelled them from gardens and from springs,
26:58  and from treasures and from a most gracious station.
26:59  Thus it was and We caused the children of Israel to inherit all of that.
26:60  So they pursued them at sunrise.
26:61  And as soon as the two parties came in sight of one another, the companions of Moses said, “We are most certainly going to be overtaken.”
26:62  He [Moses] said, “Not at all. Truly my Lord is with me and He will soon guide me.”
26:63  Thereupon We inspired Moses saying, “Strike the sea with your stick” so it [sea] parted asunder and each part was like a magnificent mountain.
26:64  And We caused the others [Pharaoh’s party] to draw near thither.
26:65  And We took Moses and those with him to safety altogether.
26:66  And then We drowned the others.
26:67  Truly in that indeed is a sign and most of them were not believers.
26:68  But truly your Lord, He truly is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:69  And relate unto them the news of Abraham.
26:70  When he said to his father and his people, “What are you worshipping?”
26:71  They said, “We worship idols and we remain constant in devotion to them.”
26:72  He said, “Do they hear you when you invoke them?
26:73  or do they benefit you or harm?”
26:74  They said, “Nay! We found our fathers acting in this manner.”
26:75  He said, “Now look at these things that you are worshipping,
26:76  you and your forefathers
26:77  most certainly they are an enemy for me except the Lord of the worlds
26:78  Who created me so it is He who guides me
26:79  and it is He who feeds me and provides drink to slake my thirst
26:80  and when I fall sick, it is He who heals me
26:81  and it is He who puts me to death and then brings me to life
26:82  and it is He who I fervently hope will absolve me of my faults on the day of rewarding.
26:83  O my Lord! Grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous
26:84  and make for me truthful mention on the tongue of those who will come later.
26:85  And make me of those who will be the inheritors of the garden of bliss.
26:86  And cover my father with forgiveness as he indeed is of those gone astray.
26:87  And do not humiliate me on the day when they will be resurrected;
26:88  a day when neither wealth will benefit nor children,
26:89  except one who comes to Allah with a peaceful heart
26:90  and the garden will be brought near unto those who safeguard their own souls
26:91  and the hellfire will be made to appear for those who have gone astray.
26:92  And it will be said unto them ‘Where are those things that you used to worship
26:93  besides Allah?’ Will they help you [against Allah] or will they help themselves?”
26:94  Thereupon they are hurled therein; they and the ones who caused them to go astray
26:95  and the hosts of Iblis altogether.
26:96  And they will say as they quarreled therein,
26:97  “By Allah we were truly in a manifest error
26:98  when we made you equals with the Lord of the worlds
26:99  and no one else led us astray except the evildoers.
26:100  And now there are no interceders for us
26:101  nor any dear friend.
26:102  And if only there was another chance of return [to the earth] for us, we would be truly of those who are the believers.”
26:103  Truly in that surely is a sign and most of them are not believers.
26:104  And truly it is your Lord who surely is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:105  The people of Noah belied the messengers.
26:106  When their brother Noah said to them, “Will you not safeguard your own souls?
26:107  I am a trustworthy messenger for you.
26:108  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:109  And I do not ask you of any fee for it, for my fee is only on the Lord of the worlds.
26:110  So revere Allah and obey me.”
26:111  They said, “Shall we believe in you when only the lowest of people follow you?”
26:112  He said, “What do I know about that which they used to do.
26:113  For their reckoning is only upon my Lord if only you were aware.
26:114  And I am not going to drive away the believers,
26:115  for I am but a manifest warner.”
26:116  They said, “If you refrain not O Noah, certainly you will be of those who are stoned [to death].”
26:117  He said, “O my Lord! My people have indeed belied me
26:118  so judge between me and them with a criterion and save me and those who are with me from among the believers.”
26:119  So We saved him and those who were with him in the fully loaded ark.
26:120  Then thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.
26:121  Truly in that there is surely a sign but most of them were not believers.
26:122  And truly your Lord indeed is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:123  The [people of] ‘Ad belied the messengers.
26:124  When their brother Hud said to them, “Will you not safeguard your own souls?
26:125  Truly I am for you a trustworthy messenger.
26:126  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:127  And I do not ask from you of any fee for it, for my fee is only on the Lord of the worlds.
26:128  Do you build on every high place a spectacular monument for delightful sport?
26:129  And do you choose for yourself magnificent buildings so that you may attain everlastingness?
26:130  And when you strike, you strike tyrannically.
26:131  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:132  And revere Him who has endowed you with all that you know;
26:133  he endowed you with cattle and children
26:134  and gardens and springs of water.
26:135  Lo! I fear for you the punishment of an awful day.”
26:136  They said, “It is all the same to us whether you admonish or you are not of those who are the admonishers.
26:137  This is nothing but the tradition of the ancients.
26:138  And we are not those who are going to be punished.”
26:139  And they belied him so We destroyed them. Truly in that surely is a sign but most of them were not believers.
26:140  And truly your Lord indeed it is He who is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:141  The [people of] Samood belied the messengers.
26:142  When their brother Salih said to them, “Will you not Safeguard your souls?
26:143  Truly I am for you a trustworthy messenger.
26:144  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:145  And I do not ask you of any fee for it, for my reward is but on the Lord the worlds.
26:146  Will you be left all safe in this which is right here now? -
26:147  In gardens and springs of water
26:148  and in crops and date-palms with delectable spathes.
26:149  And you carve tall houses out of the mountains.
26:150  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:151  And do not obey the command of those who waste their own souls.
26:152  It is they who spread corruption in the land and do not make things right.”
26:153  They said, “You are but of those who are bewitched.
26:154  You are but a human like us therefore bring a sign if you are of those who are the truthful.”
26:155  He said, “This is a she-camel. She has her turn to drink and you have your turn to drink on a day well appointed.
26:156  And do not touch her with any harm lest the punishment of an awful day seize you”.
26:157  But they hamstrung her and thereupon they became full of regret.
26:158  Therefore the punishment seized them. Truly in that indeed is a sign but most of them were not believers.
26:159  And truly your Lord, it is He who is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:160  And the people of Lot belied the messengers.
26:161  When their brother Lot said to them, “Will you not safeguard your souls?
26:162  I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger
26:163  so revere Allah and obey me.
26:164  And I do not ask you for any fee for it, for my reward is but on the Lord of the worlds.
26:165  Of all the people [out of lust] do you come only to men?
26:166  And you abandon that which your Lord has created for you from your mates? Nay! You are a people of transgressors.”
26:167  They said, “If you refrain not O Lot! You will most certainly be of those who are expelled.”
26:168  He said, “Truly I am of those who abhor your doings.
26:169  O my Lord! Save me and my family from all that they are doing.”
26:170  So We saved him and his family altogether,
26:171  except an old woman who was of those who were left behind.
26:172  Then We annihilated the others.
26:173  And we rained upon them a rain and how woeful was the rain of those who were warned.
26:174  Truly in that indeed is a sign but most of them were not believers.
26:175  And your Lord, it is He who indeed is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:176  The dwellers of the wooded valley belied the messengers.
26:177  When Shoaib said to them, “Will you not safeguard your souls?
26:178  I am indeed a trustworthy messenger for you.
26:179  So revere Allah and obey me.
26:180  And I do not ask you of any fee for it, for my reward is only on the Lord of the worlds.
26:181  Fulfill the measure and be not of those who are the cheaters.
26:182  And weigh with the most upright scale.
26:183  And do not cheat people of their things and do not go about the earth spreading corruption therein.
26:184  And revere Him who created you and the past generations.”
26:185  They said, “You are but of those bewitched.
26:186  And you are but a human like us and we think that you surely are among the liars.
26:187  Therefore make fragments of the heaven to fall upon us if you are of those who are the truthful.”
26:188  He said, “My Lord knows best about all that you do.”
26:189  But they belied him so the punishment of the day of the cloud seized them. Truly it was a punishment of an awful day.
26:190  Truly in that is surely a sign and most of them were not believers.
26:191  And truly your Lord, it is He who surely is The All-mighty, The Most Merciful.
26:192  And truly it is most certainly a revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
26:193  Revealed by the most trustworthy spirit.
26:194  To your heart so that you be of those who are the warners.
26:195  In the Arabic tongue which makes things clear.
26:196  And it indeed is truly in the books of wisdom of the ancients.
26:197  Is it not a sign for them that people of knowledge of the children of Israel do know it?
26:198  And had We revealed it to someone of non-Arabic tongue
26:199  and he recited it unto them, they were not going to be believers in it.
26:200  Thus We have made it to seep through the hearts of the evildoers.
26:201  They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment
26:202  and it will come upon them all of a sudden while they are not aware.
26:203  Then they will say, “Are we going to be the ones given respite?”
26:204  Or is it that they are asking for Our punishment to be brought on hastily.
26:205  Do you see that if We were to make them enjoy [life] for few years,
26:206  and thereafter comes to them that which they were promised.
26:207  All that they were made to enjoy did not avail them.
26:208  And We never did destroy a township except that there were warners for it.
26:209  For the purpose of reminding and We were never wrongful [to anyone].
26:210  And it was never revealed by the devils.
26:211  And it is not fit for them and they cannot [bring it down].
26:212  Truly they are kept far from the hearing [of revelation].
26:213  Therefore do not invoke with Allah any other deity lest you be of those who are punished.
26:214  And warn your kinsfolk who are the nearest.
26:215  And lower your wings for those who follow you from among the believers.
26:216  And if they disobey you then say, “I am innocent from all that you do.”
26:217  And put your trust on The All-mighty, The Most Merciful;
26:218  He who sees you when you rise [for prayer]
26:219  and your alternate movements among those who prostrate.
26:220  For it is He who is The All-hearing, The All-knowing.
26:221  Shall I inform you about who it is upon whom the devils come down?
26:222  They come down on every lying sinful person.
26:223  They [devils] strain their hearing while most of them are liars.
26:224  And as for the poets, those who have gone astray follow them.
26:225  Have you not seen that they [poets] indeed wander aimlessly in every valley?
26:226  And that they say what they do not do.
26:227  Except those who believe and do the righteous deeds and remember Allah a lot and seek redress after they are wronged and those who do wrong in time will know which place of return will they return to.
