5:1  O' you who Live by Faith! Fulfill your covenants. Livestock animals are made lawful to you as food, except for that which is recited to you (in this Qur’ān). Hunting is not lawful for you during Pilgrimage or Umrah. Indeed, Allâh ordains whatever He chooses.
5:2  O' you who Live by Faith! Do not infringe the sanctity of the symbols, nor the Sacred Months, nor the offerings, nor the garlanded, nor the people going to the Sacred House seeking the grace and pleasure of their Lord. When you are free from the duties of Pilgrimage, then you can go for hunting. Do not let your hatred of a folk- because they hindered you from entering into the Sacred Mosque - lead you to commit aggression. Now, therefore, cooperate with each other on righteousness and piety and do not collaborate with each other on iniquity and transgression. Most certainly Allâh is extremely severe in punishment.
5:3  Forbidden to you (for food) is carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, the meat of animal of that which has been offered a sacrifice to other than Allâh (or on which the name of Allâh has not been mentioned while slaughtering), or that which is strangled to death, or that which is beaten to death, or that which has a fatal fall, or that which is gored by horns, or that from which the wild animal has eaten, except for what you are able to slaughter it before dying, or that which is sacrificed on stone altars. It is forbidden also to use arrows seeking luck or decision as this is grave disobedience. This day, those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth have given up all hope of your Faith. Now, therefore, do not stand in awe of them, but show honor and reverence only for Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you; and I have chosen for you Islam as a religion. Consequently, whoever is forced by severe hunger with no intention of sinning (can rest assured that) Allâh is certainly Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
5:4  They ask you, (O’ Muhammad), what is made lawful for them as food. Say: "It is made lawful for you to eat pure and wholesome (food), and that which you have trained the birds and beasts of prey to catch. You train them according to what Allâh has taught you, so eat from that which they catch for you, pronounce the name of Allâh over it and act piously toward Allâh. Indeed, Allâh is extremely Swift in taking account."
5:5  This day all wholesome and good things are made lawful for you. The food of those who have obtained the Scripture is made lawful for you, and yours is made lawful for them. It is made lawful for you (to wed) the chaste women from the Monotheistic Believers and chaste women from those who have obtained the Scripture which was revealed before your time. Thus, (You can wed them) when you give them their due dowers in case you desire chastity, not seeking to commit lewdness or secret intrigues. Whosoever renounces his Faith, his deeds are worthless. And in the Hereafter, he will be among those who are doomed to perdition.
5:6  O' you who Live by Faith! When you intend to perform Prayer, wash your faces, your forearms to the elbows, lightly rub your heads, and do wash your feet to the ankles. If it happens that you are in a state of ceremonial impurity, then you must wash your whole body. But if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you coming from the privy, or you have been in contact with women, and you find no water for ablution, then pick up some wholesome dust and wipe your faces and your hands with it. Allâh does not intend to let you experience hardship, but He intends to purify you and complete His Favor upon you so that you may express your gratitude (to Him for His endless blessings).
5:7  Remember the favor of Allâh upon you and the covenant with which He bound you when you said: "We hear and comply (with everything Allâh has commanded)." Subsequently, act piously towards Allâh. Indeed, Allâh has full knowledge of what is stored up in the hearts.
5:8  O' you who Live by Faith! Be persistently standing firm for Allâh, witnesses in justice and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being fair. Now, therefore, act fairly and proportionately, that is nearer to unfeigned piety. Subsequently, act piously toward Allâh. Most certainly Allâh is Completely Aware of whatever you do.
5:9  Allâh has promised those who Live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts (in this worldly life), that they will have Forgiveness and a mighty reward.
5:10  But as for those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth and deny what We have revealed of the knowledge of the Truth, they will be the Denizens of the Gehenna.
5:11  O' you who Live by Faith! Remember the favor of Allâh upon you when some people determined to stretch out their hands against you, He restrained their hands from you. Subsequently, let those who Live by Faith depend on Allâh with full trust.
5:12  Verily Allâh took the covenant from the Children of Israel. And We raised up among them twelve leaders. Allâh said: ‘I am with you if you establish the regular Prayer, pay Zakāt and believe in My Messengers while honoring and assisting them, and giving Allâh a good loan. I will definitely deliver you from all the consequences of your iniquitous deeds and admit you into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. So whoever of you renounces his Faith after this, surely he has been deceived into going away from path of truth.’
5:13  As a result of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them and caused their hearts to grow hard. They alter the words from their genuine context and fail to look after a portion of that whereof they were admonished. You will always continue to witness a deceptive action from their part except that of a few. Now, therefore, forgive and show clemency toward them. Surely Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
5:14  Likewise, We also took a covenant from those who call themselves Christians, but they too have failed to look after a portion of that whereof they were admonished. For that reason, We stirred among them enmity and hatred, which will continue to exist up until the Day of Resurrection. Lo! Allâh will soon inform them of what they used to do.
5:15  O’ People of the Book! Indeed Our Messenger has come to you to clarify for you much of what you used to conceal from the Scripture and to pass over much which is no longer substantial. Verily, there has come to you from Allâh Light and an irrefutable Book:
5:16  Wherewith Allâh inspires all those who pursue His good pleasure to paths of peace. He brings them out of darkness into light by His decree, and inspires them to a straight path (to Salvation).
5:17  Verily, those who say: ‘Allâh is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have abandoned their unfeigned Faith (in favour of their whims). Say: ‘Who possesses the power to prevent Allâh if He intends to cause the Messiah, son of Mary, to perish, as well as his mother and all those who are on the earth together?’ Unto Allâh belongs the (absolute) sovereignty of the heavens, the earth and all that is between them. He creates whatever He wills. And Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He desires.
5:18  Both the Jews and the Christians say: ‘We are the children of Allâh and His loved ones.’ Say: ‘Why, then, does He chastise you for your sinful and immoral acts?’ Nay, you are no more than human beings from among those whom He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and chastises whom He wills. Unto Allâh belongs the (absolute) sovereignty of the heavens, the earth and of all that is between them. And to Him is the journey’s end.
5:19  O’ People of the Book! Indeed Our Messenger has come to you to clarify for you (some religious matters) after a cessation of the Apostles lest you say: ‘There has not come to us any Herald of glad tidings or Messenger. Now there has come to you a Messenger who bears glad tidings and delivers a severe warning. Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatever He desires.
5:20  And (mention) when Moses said unto his people: "O’ my people, remember the favor of Allâh upon you when He raised Prophets among you, made you kings and gave you what He had not given anyone among the peoples.
5:21  O’ my people, enter the Holy Land which Allâh has appointed to you. Do not turn in flight lest you turn back as losers.”
5:22  They said: ‘O’ Moses, it is indeed inhabited by people of great might and power. And we will not be able to make entry unless they depart from it. If it happens that they depart from it, then we will definitely make entry.’
5:23  Then two men of those who show honor and reverence for Allâh, and on whom Allâh bestowed His favor, said: ‘Enter in upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it, you will definitely be victorious. So depend on Allâh with full trust if you live a life of Genuine Faith.
5:24  They said: ‘O’ Moses, we shall never enter it as long as they are there. Now, therefore, go, you and your Lord, and fight. Surely We are going to stay right here.’
5:25  Moses said: ‘O’ my Lord, I have no authority over anyone except myself and my brother. Now, therefore, separate us from those who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.’
5:26  The Lord said: ‘Verily, the land will certainly be forbidden for them for forty years, (during which) they will wander through the land. Now, therefore, do not grieve over those who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.’
5:27  And relate to them the tale of the two sons of Adam with truth, how each of them made an offering to Him, and it accepted from one, but not from the other. (And Cain) said: ‘Be sure I am going to kill you.’ (Abel) replied: ‘Allâh (Almighty) accepts only from those who are Pious.
5:28  Even if it happens that you stretch out your hand against me so as to kill me, be sure I will not stretch out mine against you so as to kill you. Indeed, I show honor and reverence for the Lord of all the beings.
5:29  Verily I intend to let you bear the sin (of killing me) along with your other iniquitous deeds, then you will be among the Denizens of Hell. That is the requital of those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
5:30  However, his ego induced him to kill his own brother, so he killed him, becoming among those who are doomed to perdition.
5:31  Then Allâh sent a raven scratching into the earth in order to show him how to bury the naked corpse of his brother. He says: ‘Woe betide me! How was it that I was unable to be like this raven and bury the corpse of my brother?’ So he became of those who feel bitter regret.
5:32  That is why We prescribed for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a human being unjustly -- except as punishment for murder or for spreading corruption in the land -- it will be as if he killed all mankind. In the meantime, whoever saves a life, it will be as if he saved the whole of mankind. Verily Our Messengers came to them with the Decisive Signs, even then after that many of them became prodigals on the earth.
5:33  The rightful chastisement for those who wage war against (the religion of) Allâh and (against) His Messenger, and endeavor to spread corruption on the earth, is that they should be murdered, or crucified, or their hands and feet should be cut off on opposite sides, or be expelled from the land. This will be their ignominy in this worldly life, and in the Hereafter, they will subjected to an extremely dreadful doom,
5:34  Except for those who express sincere regret before they fall into your power. In that case, you must know that Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
5:35  O’ you who Live by Faith! Act piously towards Allâh, seek to come closer to Him and strive hard in His cause so that you my ultimately achieve a blissful life / or gain eternal salvation.
5:36  Verily, those who persistently refuses to Yield to the Truth- if they had all that is on the earth and twice as much again and offered it to ransom their own selves from the (divine) penalty of the Day of Resurrection, it would not be accepted from them. Theirs will be a mighty punishment.
5:37  They will struggle hard to come out from the Inferno, but they will never be able to. And they will be subjected to an everlasting punishment.
5:38  The thief, male or female, who persists in stealing, cut off (from the wrist joint) the (right) hand as a retribution for what they have gained, an exemplary punishment from Allâh. He is All-Vigorous- All-Wise.
5:39  But whosoever expresses sincere regret after his iniquitous deeds and strives to make amends, then (he can rest assured that) Allâh will surely turn to him in forgiveness. Most certainly Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
5:40  Are you unaware that unto Allâh belongs the (absolute) sovereignty of the heavens and the earth? He forgives and shows Mercy on whom He wills, and chastises whom He wills. And Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He wills.
5:41  O’ Messenger, do not let those who hasten towards spiritual darkness distress you- those who say: ‘We adhere to Faith’ with their tongues, but their hearts are not convinced because of the veracity of their faith. And of the Jews who listen to mendacity, paying close attention to other folk who are too arrogant to come to you, distorting the words out of their genuine context, and saying: ‘If you are given this, then you must take it, but if you are not given this, then you must beware!’ Whosoever Allâh lets him fall into temptation, you will never have (the power to save) him from (the punishment) of Allâh. Those are the ones whose hearts Allâh does not intend to purify. For them is ignominy in this worldly life, as well as an extremely dreadful doom in the Hereafter.
5:42  They show a keen interest in listening to mendacity and devouring whatsoever is forbidden. So, if it happens that they come to you, then you can judge between them or you can turn away from them. However, if you decided to turn away from them, then they could never harm you at all. Subsequently, if you (decided to) judge, then judge with justice between them. Indeed, Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who treat people fairly and consistently.
5:43  How could it be possible to ask you to judge between them while they have the Torah in which is the judgment of Allâh? Yet they turn back after that. They are not truly living a life of Genuine Faith.
5:44  Verily, it is We Who revealed the Torah wherein there was the Full Knowledge of Truth and light by which the Prophets who wholly submitted themselves to Allâh used to make judgments for Jews. So too did the Pious Preachers and Rabbis as they were required to preserve the Scripture of Allâh. And they were witnesses thereto. Now, therefore, do not let the fear of people overtake you, but beware of My wrath. And do not voluntarily and consciously abandon what I have revealed in favour of small gain. Whoever does not judges by what Allâh has revealed, they are (indeed) the ones who have no tendency to live by Faith.
5:45  We ordained therein for them: Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and for wounds retribution. But whoever remits the retribution as alms, it will be considered as an atonement for him. Whoever does not judges by what Allâh has revealed, they are (indeed) the ones who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
5:46  We also caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in the footsteps of those earlier Prophets, authenticating (the divine law) of the Torah which was revealed before him. And we gave him the Gospel containing the Full Knowledge of Truth and light, authenticating also (the divine law) of the Torah which was given before it as the True Source of Enlightenment, and Admonition for the Pious.
5:47  Let, then, the people of the Gospel, judge according to what Allâh has revealed therein. Whoever does not judges by what Allâh has revealed, they are (indeed) the ones who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
5:48  We have also revealed to you this Glorious Qur’ān with the Full Knowledge of Truth, authenticating the Scripture that came before It and preserving the same safe from corruption. Now, therefore, judge between them by what Allâh has revealed. And do not voluntarily and consciously abandon the Full Knowledge of Truth that has been given unto you in favour of their own whims. To each of you We have prescribed a code of law and a particular method. Had Allâh willed, He could have made you one community. But (His Divine wisdom is) to try you in what He has given you respectively. Now, therefore, compete eagerly with each other in doing virtuous deeds since you are all bound to return to Allâh. Verily, He will inform you of that in which you used to differ.
5:49  Now, therefore, judge between them according to what Allâh has revealed (to you). And do not yield to their own whims. But beware of them, lest they tempt you to swerve you from some of that which Allâh has revealed to you. If they are tempted to turn away, (then be sure that) Allâh intends to chastise them for some of their iniquitous deeds. Indeed, most of the people are indulging in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
5:50  What! Do they endeavor to maintain the judgment of the time of ignorance? Who could be a better judge than Allâh for people who believe with absolute faith (in Him)?
5:51  O' you who Live by Faith! Do not take the Jews, or the Christians as trusted allies. They are but allies of one another. Nevertheless, whoever among you takes them as trusted allies has become one of them. Surely Allâh holds back the Light of His inspiration from those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
5:52  Yet you can see those in whose hearts there is an infirmity hastening toward them, saying: ‘We fear lest a turn of fortune would impinge us.’ But perhaps Allâh will bring conquest or a command from Him so they will express sincere regret about that which they stored up secretly in their hearts.
5:53  Only then, those who Live by Faith will ask one another, ‘Are these the ones who swore by Allâh with their strongest oaths that they were with you?" Lo! Their works have been nullified, and they have become among those who are doomed to eternal perdition.
5:54  O’ you who Live by Faith! Whoever of you renounces his Faith, then Allâh will bring a people whom He loves and they love Him, humble towards those who live a life of Genuine Faith and stern towards those who are Spiritually dead and blind, striving hard in the cause of Allâh, not fearing the fury and vitriol of the those who cast blame. This is the bounty of Allâh which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allâh is All-Encompassing - All-Knowing.
5:55  Your only patron is Allâh, His Messenger, and the fellow believers who establish the regular Prayer, pay Zakāt and bow down to worship.
5:56  Whoever chooses Allâh, His Messenger, and the Monotheistic Believers to be his guardians, (can rest assured that) the party of Allâh will certainly be the triumphant.
5:57  O’ you who Live by Faith! Do not take as patrons those who make your religion a subject of ridicule and a game from among those who were given the Scripture before you and those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth. And act piously towards Allâh if you truly live a life of Genuine Faith.
5:58  And when you proclaim your call to prayer, they take it as subject of ridicule and as a game. That is because they are a people who lack the ability to perceive and understand.
5:59  Say: "O’ People of the Scripture! Do you resent us for any other reason than because we believe in Allâh with Absolute Faith and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before and that most of you are indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance?
5:60  Say: ‘Shall I inform you of (what is) worse than that as requital from Allâh? It is those who incurred the curse of Allâh and His wrath, some of whom He transformed into apes and pigs, and those who worship the devil (or the fabled gods). Theses are in worse plight and further astray from the established course. “
5:61  When they come to you, they say: ‘We adhere to Faith." Yet they entered into your company with void hearts and went forth from you with the same. But Allâh is Fully Aware of what they have stored up secretly in their hearts.
5:62  You can see many of them hastening to sin and transgression, and eating of things forbidden. Evil indeed is that which they have been doing.
5:63  Why do not the Pious Preachers and Rabbis forbid them from uttering evil words and from eating things forbidden? Evil indeed is that which they have been practicing.
5:64  And the of Jews say: ‘The hand of Allâh is tied up.’ Be tied up their own hands! They are deprived of His Mercy for what they said. Nay, but both His Hands are widely outspread. He expend as He wills. And what has been revealed to you from your Lord of the Qur’ān will surely increase many of them in insolence and spiritual darkness. We have cast among them enmity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. So often as they will kindle a fire for war, Allâh will extinguish it. And they seek to spread corruption on the earth. And Allâh does not demonstrates His own love for the evildoers who spread corruption.
5:65  If only the People of the Book had remained true to their Faith and acted piously, We would certainly have delivered them from all the consequences of their iniquitous deeds and admitted them into the Gardens of Delight.
5:66  If only they had truly observed the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord, they would certainly have eaten of good things both from above them and from under their feet. Among them, there is a party on the right course- but how evil is that which many of them do!
5:67  O’ Messenger! Convey all of that which has been revealed to you from your Lord. And if it happens that you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message. And Allâh will establish and guard you against the (wicked) people. Most surely Allâh holds back the Light of His inspiration from those who are spiritually blind and dead.
5:68  Say: "O’ People of the Book! You follow nothing unless you truly observe the Torah, the Gospel and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.’ And what has been revealed to you from your Lord of the Qur’ān will surely increase many of them in insolence and spiritual darkness. Now, therefore, don’t grieve yourself for those who are spiritually blind and dead.
5:69  Most surely those who Live by Faith, and those who are Jews, Sabians and Christians, whoever of them believes in Allâh and the Last Day and strives to do righteous deed, there will come no fear on them, neither will they ever grieve.
5:70  Verily, We took the covenant of the Children of Israel, and sent Our Messengers to them. Whenever a Messenger came to them with what they themselves did not desire, some (of them) they called impostors, and some they sought to kill.
5:71  They presumed that there would be no affliction, so they became blind and deaf. Then Allâh turned to them in forgiveness. Afterwards many of them again became blind and deaf. And Allâh is the All-Seer of whatsoever they do.
5:72  They have certainly renounced their Monotheistic Faith who say: “Allâh is the Messiah, son of Mary, whereas Christ himself said: "O’ children of Israel, worship Allâh, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allâh (must know that) Allâh will exclude him from Al-Jannah. His home will be Gehenna. As for those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims, there shall be no helpers to save them (from the punishment of Allâh).
5:73  They have certainly renounced their Monotheistic Faith who say: “Allâh is the third of three.” There is no other god, beside the One True God. If they do not refrain from what they say, an extremely painful doom will surely be inflicted on those among them who persistently refuse to acknowledge the (Absolute Oneness of Allâh).
5:74  So will they not turn towards Allâh in repentance and seek His forgiveness? Lo! Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
5:75  Christ, son of Mary, is not more than a Messenger like the other Messengers who have preceded him. His mother was a veracious woman of integrity. They both eat food. Look how We show them clearly (and impartially) the Signs. And look how they deviate from the path of truth!
5:76  Say: "Do you worship besides Allâh, that which cannot hurt or profit you? And Allâh is the One who is the All-Hearer- the All-Knowing."
5:77  Say: "O’ People of the Book! Do not exceed the limits in your religion beyond the Truth and do not yield to the whims of a people who have fallen away from the Faith, and who have deceived others into going away from the path of truth; and they themselves could not find the way to the truth.
5:78  Those who persistently refused to Yield to the Truth among the Children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of David, and Jesus, son of Mary. (This befell them) because they refused to yield to the Truth and used to transgress.
5:79  They did not forbid one another from the iniquitous deeds, they were committing. Verily evil was what they used to do.
5:80  You can see many of them taking those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth as their guardians. Evil indeed is that which their own selves have sent before them. For that reason the wrath of Allâh abides in them. And in the torment shall they live forever.
5:81  However, if they had believed in Allâh and the Prophet, as well as in what has been revealed to him, they would never have taken them for trusted allies. But most of them are indulging in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
5:82  You will certainly find the most intense of the people in animosity towards those who Live by Faith are the Jews and those who associate others with Allâh. And you will find the nearest of them in affection to those who Live by Faith are the ones who say: ‘We are indeed Christians.’ That is because there are priests and monks among them; and because they do not display an arrogant attitude (towards the authority of Allâh).
5:83  When they hear what has been revealed to this Messenger, you could see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the Truth which they have recognized. They say: ‘Our Lord, we adhere to the true Monotheistic Faith, so write us down among the witnesses.
5:84  And why should we not believe in Allâh and in the Truth which has been revealed to us? We earnestly hope that our Lord would enroll us among the righteous people.’
5:85  So Allâh will reward them for what they said with Gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will live therein forever. Such is the reward of those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
5:86  But those persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth and who voluntarily and consciously deny what We have revealed of the knowledge of the truth, they are the Denizens of the Hell.
5:87  O’ you who Live by Faith! Do not forbid the pure and wholesome things which Allâh has made lawful for you and transgress. Indeed, Allâh does not demonstrates His own love for the transgressors.
5:88  Now eat of the things which Allâh has provided for you, lawful and wholesome. And act piously toward Allâh in whom you trust.
5:89  Allâh will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for breaking the oaths which you take in earnest. The atonement thereof, then, is the feeding of ten poor persons with such average food as you feed your own families with, or the clothing of them or the freeing of a slave. But whosoever does not finds the means will have to Fast for three days. This is the atonement of your oaths when you have sworn. Keep your oaths! This is how Allâh shows you clearly his Messages so that you may be grateful.
5:90  O’ you who Live by Faith! The intoxicants, the game of chance, (sacrifices at) altars and divining arrows are only the abomination of Satan. So shun each one of them so that you may ultimately achieve a blissful life / or gain eternal salvation.
5:91  The devil (Satan) intends only to create enmity and hatred among you by means of intoxicants and game of chance, and to keep you back from celebrating the praise of Allâh and declaring His glory, and from Prayer. So, will you not then refrain?
5:92  Yield (to the authority of Allâh) and (to what He has raveled) to His Messenger. And be cautious and alert. But if it happens that you turn away, then you must know that the duty of Our Messenger is to convey clearly and openly the Message.
5:93  Those who Live by Faith and strive to do righteous deed would not be at fault in what they ate (in the past) if they act piously, live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts. Once more again, if they act piously and live by Faith and then they act piously and pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith, then Allâh will demonstrate His own love for those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
5:94  O' you Live by Faith, Allâh will certainly try you in respect of some game which your hands and lances can reach so that Allâh may identify the one who shows honor and reverence for Him in secret. Whosoever, therefore, transgresses after this, will have an extremely painful doom.
5:95  O' you live by Faith! Do not kill game while you are in state of holiness and purity. Whosoever among you kills it intentionally, its indemnification is a quadruped like to that which he has killed, as determined by two just men from among you, as an offering to be brought to Ka’bah, or as an atonement, he must feed a number of needy people, or the equivalent of that in Fasting, so that he may taste the consequence of his deed. And Allâh has pardoned what is past. But whoever reverts to it, Allâh will take retribution from him.
5:96  It is made lawful for you to hunt and to eat (fish) of the sea as a provision for you and for the travelers. But it is forbidden to you to hunt as long as you are in the state of holiness and purity. Now, therefore, act piously towards Allâh to whom you are (destined) to be gathered.
5:97  Allâh has appointed the Ka'bah, the Sacred House, to be an establishment for mankind, as also the sacred month, and the offering, and its garlands, so that you may know that Allâh knows all that is in the heavens and on the earth, and that Allâh is the All-Knowing of all things.
5:98  Know that Allâh is extremely severe in punishment and that Allâh is also Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5:99  The sole duty of the Messenger is to convey the Message. And Allâh has full knowledge of whatever you disclose and whatever you conceal.
5:100  Say: "Not equal are the malicious and the wholesome, even though the abundance of malicious things may please you." Now, therefore, act piously towards Allâh, O, you men who possess high intelligence and great illumination so that you may ultimately achieve a blissful life / or gain eternal salvation.
5:101  O' you Live by Faith! Do not ask about things which if they are made known to you, would cause you trouble, though if you ask about them while the Qur’ān is being revealed, then they will be made known to you. Allâh has left them out on purpose. Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Forbearing.
5:102  A people before you asked about such things, some more later on they renounced their faith.
5:103  Allâh has not instituted (superstition like) Bahīra or Sā’iba or Wasīla or Hām. But those who persistently refused to Yield to the Truth attribute falsehood to Allâh. And most of them do lack the ability to perceive and understand.
5:104  When it is said unto them: "Come to that which Allâh has revealed and to the Messenger," They say: ”Sufficient for us is that wherein We found our fathers." What! Even though their fathers were void of knowledge, living in spiritual darkness.
5:105  O' you Live by Faith, keep yourselves safe. He who is deceived into going away from the Truth cannot harm you when you yourselves are on the right path. Verily you are all (destined) to return to Him, then He will inform you of whatever you used do.
5:106  O’ you who Live by Faith! When death draws nigh to one of you, call upon two just persons from among you to witness as you make a bequest, otherwise, two others from among others than you if it happens that you are travelling through the land and the calamity of death befalls you. If you have doubt (about their testimony), detain them after their Prayer and let them swear by Allâh (saying): “We will not exchange our oath for any price, even if it should be a relative, and we would not hide the testimony of Allâh, for then we would surely be of the sinful."
5:107  But if afterwards it gets known that these two were guilty of the sin of perjury, let two others stand forth in their places, from among those who are the most deserving, nearest in kinship, and they both swear an oath by Allâh (saying): "We affirm that our testimony is more rightful than the testimony of the other two, and that we have not trespassed the truth, for then indeed we would be among those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
5:108  So it is more likely that they will bear true witness or fear that other oaths will be taken after theirs. Then act piously towards Allâh and listen attentively (to that which you are admonished). Surely Allâh holds back the Light of His inspiration from a people who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
5:109  They day when Allâh gathers the Messengers together and says unto them: "What response did you receive?" They will answer: "We have no knowledge. Most certainly you are the One Who has the Perfect knowledge of (the world) of unseen.”
5:110  Allâh will say: "O’ Jesus son of Mary! Remember My Favor upon you and upon your mother: when I strengthened you with the Spirit of Holiness so that you would be able to speak unto the people in the cradle and when of middle age: when I taught you the spirit of wisdom, the Scripture -the Torah and the Gospel: when you fashioned a creation out of clay in the likeness of a bird, by My will, then you breathed into it a new spirit , and it became a bird by My will: when you were able to heal the night-blind and the leprous by My will: when you raised the dead by My will: when I restrained the Children of Israel from putting you to death: when you came to them with the full knowledge of the Truth. But those who persistently refused to Yield to the Truth from among them said: “This is nothing but an appreciable sorcery (and devilry).”
5:111  And (mention) when I inspired the Disciples to affirm their Faith in Me and in My Messenger, they said: 'We affirm our Faith (in the Absolute Oneness of Allâh), and bear witness that we have wholly submitted ourselves (to the authority of Allâh).”
5:112  And (mention) when the Disciples said: "O’ Jesus, son of Mary, is your Lord capable of sending down to us a Table Spread with food from heaven? He said: “Act piously towards Allâh if you are (truly) living a life of Genuine Faith.
5:113  They said: "We desire to eat from it in order that our hearts may attain an absolute faith and we may know that what you have told us is the truth, and that we may be thereby among the witnesses."
5:114  Jesus, son of Mary, said: "O’ Allâh, our Lord! Send down for us a Table Spread with food from the heavens, that it may be to us a festival, to the first of us and to the last of us, and a Sign from you. And provide sustenance for us. You are the Best of Sustainers.”
5:115  Allâh said: "I am going to send it down to you but whosoever of you falls into spiritual darkness afterwards- I will definitely chastise him with a chastisement by which I have not chastised anyone among the beings."
5:116  Allâh will ask: "O’ Jesus, son of Mary, did you tell the people to worship you and your mother as two gods besides Allâh? He will answer: "All Glory And Perfection Be To You! I could never say that which I had no right. If I had said it, you would have definitely known it. You know what is in my inner self , whereas I do not know what is in Yours. It is You who has the full knowledge of all hidden things.
5:117  I said nothing to them except that which you commanded me to say: ‘Worship (& venerate) Allâh, my Lord and your Lord’ and I was a witness of them so long as I was among them, but since you caused me to die, You have been the Watcher over them, and you are a Witness to all things.
5:118  If You intend to chastise them, then they are certainly Your servants. And if You intend to deliver them from all the consequences of their iniquitous deeds, then You are certainly the One who is All-Mighty, All-Wise."
5:119  Allâh will say: "This is the day when only the truthful will profit by their truthfulness.” For them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; therein shall they abide. Allâh is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. Most surely that is the most ultimate success and the supreme one.
5:120  Unto Allâh belongs the (absolute) sovereignty of the heavens, the earth and whatsoever is therein. And He is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He pleases!
