Safi Kaskas rendition of Surah The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers(adh-Dhariyat)
51:1 By those [winds] scattering dust,
51:2 and those heavily laden [with water]
51:3 and those sailing with ease
51:4 and those distributing [rain] as ordained,
51:5 what you are promised is true.
51:6 The judgment will come.
51:7 By the sky that is woven,
51:8 you differ in what you say [about this message].
51:9 He who deceives himself is misled away from it.
51:10 The speculators destroy themselves
51:11 they are unaware that they are lost in ignorance.
51:12 They ask, "When is the Day of Judgment?"
51:13 The Day they will be tested when they see the Fire
51:14 [And will be told], "Taste your scheme. This is what you were rushing toward."
51:15 While those who were mindful of God will be among Gardens and springs,
51:16 accepting what their Lord has given them. Verily, they were those who do good.
51:17 They used to sleep a little at night,
51:18 and at dawn they would pray for forgiveness,
51:19 and assign a share of their wealth to the needy and the deprived.
51:20 For the certain [in faith], they are signs on earth
51:21 and in yourselves, will you not see?
51:22 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised.
51:23 By the Lord of the heaven and earth, it is as true as the fact that you speak.
51:24 Has the story of Abraham's honored guests reached you?
51:25 When they entered to see him, they said, "Peace." He answered, "Peace to you strangers."
51:26 Then he went off to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf
51:27 and placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?"
51:28 He then began to feel apprehensive. They said, "Do not fear," and gave him good news of a boy who would be gifted with knowledge.
51:29 His wife approached with a scream, struck her face and protested, "A barren old woman [like me]!"
51:30 They said, "Thus said your Lord; He is the All-Wise, the All-knowing."
51:31 [Abraham] then enquired, "What is your business, messengers?"
51:32 They said, " We have been sent to a dissenting people
51:33 to send down on them rocks of clay,
51:34 marked by your Lord for those who rejected His messages and have severed all relations with God
51:35 So We brought out the believers that were in town.
51:36 But found only one household of people who submitted to God.
51:37 And We left in town a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
51:38 There is another sign in Moses, when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.
51:39 But Pharaoh turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."
51:40 So We seized him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. Pharaoh was to blame.
51:41 And a sign in Aad, when We unleashed against them the devastating wind.
51:42 It spared nothing it came upon, and left it like decayed ruins.
51:43 And a sign in Thamud, it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a while."
51:44 But they defied their Lord's command, so the thunderbolt struck them as they looked.
51:45 They were unable to rise, nor could they find help.
51:46 And before that the people of Noah. They were wicked people.
51:47 We built the universe with power, and We are steadily expanding it.
51:48 And the earth We spread it out, How well We smoothed it out.
51:49 And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will reflect.
51:50 So flee towards God. I am sent from Him with a clear warning for you.
51:51 And do not set up any other god with God. I come to you with a clear warning from Him.
51:52 Similarly, every time a messenger came to those before them, they said, "A magician or a madman."
51:53 Did they recommend it to one another? Rather, they are people full of tyranny.
51:54 So turn away from them, you are not to blame.
51:55 And go on reminding them. It is good for the believers to be reminded.
51:56 I only created jinn and human beings to worship Me.
51:57 I do not require any provision from them, nor do I require them to feed Me.
51:58 It is God who is the Provider to all, the Possessor of Power, the Strong.
51:59 Those who were unjust have their share of bad deeds just like their predecessors, so let them not rush My punishment.
51:60 How terrible for the unbelievers their Day which they are promised.
