25:1
The Source of all blessings is
HE,
WHO has sent down the Criterion, upon
HIS devotee, that he may be a warner for all realms.
25:2
HE unto
WHOM belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and
who has not taken a son, and for
WHOM is no partner in
HIS dominion.
HE created everything, and then
HE measured out [for everything] its every extent.
25:3
While they have taken gods besides
HIM, which do not create anything, whereas they themselves are created. And they hold no sway over any harm or any benefit to themselves. And they hold no sway over death, or life, or resurrection.
25:4
The disbelievers have said, “This is nothing save falsehood, which he has invented, and other people have assisted him in it. So, they [together] have produced a travesty and a forgery.”
25:5
And they said, “Fables of the earlier peoples, which he has had transcribed— they are rehearsed on him, [each] day’s start and the day’s end.”
25:6
Say, “
HE WHO knows the undisclosed in the heavens and the earth has sent it down. Indeed, ever was
HE forgiving, merciful.”
25:7
They have said, “What [if any credibility] does this ‘messenger’ have? He eats the food [of mortals], and he walks through the marketplaces! Why was not an angel sent down unto him, so to be a warner alongside him?
25:8
Or [why has not] a treasure been directed toward him, or [why] is there not a garden for him to eat from?” And the unjust said, “You follow none except a spellbound man.”
25:9
Observe how they set the standards for
you. [Demonstrably] they have gone astray and thus are unable to seek a way.
25:10
The Source of all blessings is
HE,
WHO, if
HE willed, would have placed better than all that for
you: gardens with streams flowing subservient to them. And [
HE would] make palaces just for
you.
25:11
Nay! They give the lie to the Hour! And
WE have readied a blaze for whoever gives the lie to the Hour.
25:12
When it sees them from a place afar, they will hear it, raging and roaring.
25:13
And when they are discarded to a tight quarter of it, banded together— there they will cry out, ‘remorse.’
25:14
“Today, do not cry ‘remorse’ once. Cry ‘remorse’ plentifully.
25:15
Say, “Is that better or the garden of immortality which is promised to the God-conscious? Ever it was a recompense, and a destination for them?”
25:16
For them therein is whatever they want, abidingly. Ever an answerable promise on
your Rabb.
25:17
On a day,
HE will gather them and what they are worshipping short of Allah, then ask, “Did you mislead these free-willed servants of MINE, or did they [themselves] stray off the way?”
25:18
They said, “
YOURS is all glory and might. It was not to befit us, taking any protectors other than
YOU. But
YOU provided materially for them and their ancestors, until they forgot the Remembrance. And they were a [spiritually] fallow people.”
25:19
[HE said],
“So they have denied what you say. So now you are unable to avert, or avail help. And whoever of you is with wrong,
WE will make him partake of an immense punishment.”
25:20
And not did W
E send any messengers before
you, except they necessarily ate their food and walked in the marketplaces. And
WE have made some of you a test for others. Will you persevere, while ever is
your Rabb all-seeing?
25:21
And those who do not expect
OUR meeting have said, “Why were the angels not sent unto us, or why do we not see our
Rabb?” They have indeed nurtured conceit in their souls and have been insolent— a colossal insolence.
25:22
On the day they see the angels— on that day, no good tidings for the flouters of divine guidance, and they will say, “A territorial wall!”
25:23
And
WE would have reached to whatever they had done, of any deed, then rendered it to strewn dust.
25:24
The beneficiaries of the garden that day are well-blessed, settled and in the finest place of leisure.
25:25
On a day, the sky will burst into clouds, and the angels will be sent down, in sustained succession.
25:26
The Sovereignty of that day, the Reality [of it], is for
Al Raḥmān. And it was ever a difficult day on the disbelievers.
25:27
And a day the oppressor will bite his very hands, saying, “Ah! If only I had taken a way alongside the Messenger!
25:28
O my woe. Ah! If only I had not taken that other one for a friend.
25:29
He did mislead me away from the Reminder after it had come to me. And Satan was ever to be a deserter for man.”
25:30
And the Messenger said, “O my
Rabb, my people did take this Quran as extraneous.”
25:31
And thus, it is.
WE have rendered an opponent for every prophet from amongst the flouters of divine guidance, while
your Rabb suffices as guide and helper.
25:32
Those who have disbelieved have said, “Why was the Quran not sent down upon him in one single communication.” [It is sent down] thus, so
WE may consolidate your heart and mind through it. And
WE have imparted it harmoniously [to your heart and mind] in a harmonious impartation.
25:33
And they bring
you not a standard, save
WE bring the Truth to
you, and the best explanation.
25:34
Those will be corralled toward
Jahannam against their faces. Those are positioned worst and most astray path wise.
25:35
WE had given Moses the timeless Book, and
WE had made his brother Aaron, a committed deputy alongside him.
25:36
Then [to serve due warning]
WE said to the two of them, “Go unto the people,” the ones who have consistently denied
OUR signs. Duly thereafter,
WE wiped them out in an annihilation.
25:37
And people of Noah, when they denied the messengers,
WE drowned them, and
WE made them a sign for humankind.
WE have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment.
25:38
And [signs were made of] the
Aad and
Thamūd and the residents of
Al Rass and many generations in between.
25:39
And for each
WE laid out the examples [of the fate of those before them], and each
WE demolished in a single demolition.
25:40
They have surely come across the town which was pelted with the horrible rain. Have they then not seen it? Nay, [they remain unaffected]. They expect not a [consequential] resurrection.
25:41
When they see
you, they do not take
you except as an object of mockery: “Is this the one who was sent by Allah as a messenger?
25:42
He almost misled us away from our gods, were it not that we persevered over them!” They shall come to know when it is time for them to see the punishment, as to who was more errant of way.
25:43
Have you seen one who adopts his own fancy for his god? Will
you then be a trustee over him?
25:44
Or do you figure that most of them hear out or use reason? They are merely like the cattle herd. Nay! They are on a more errant course.
25:45
Have
you not [in wonderment] looked to your
Rabb, how
HE has [always] spanned out the shadow? If
HE had willed,
HE surely could have made it constant? Moreover,
WE made the sun a guide over it.
25:46
Further to that,
WE capture it unto
US—a gentle capture.
25:47
HE it is
WHO made the night a cloak, and the [nightly] sleep a rest for you. And
HE made the day a resurrection.
25:48
HE it is
WHO has been sending the winds with tidings, heralding
HIS mercy. And
WE have sent down purified water from the sky,
25:49
So that
WE may give life thereby to a dead land, and with it
WE slake the thirst of the multitudes of livestock and humans WE have created.
25:50
WE have indeed manifested the many takeaways of it [i.e., water] in their midst, that they may mindfully reflect. Yet most of humanity have refused to respond, except with ingratitude.
25:51
And if
WE had willed,
WE could have sent a warner into each settlement.
25:52
So do not obey the disbelievers and resist them with it [i.e., the Quran] — a grand resistance.
25:53
HE it is
Who has let loose, the two bodies of water: this one pleasant and sweet, and this one salty and bitter. And
HE rendered between them a seamless barrier [
Barzakh] and a territorial wall.
25:54
HE it is
WHO created a mortal from water. Then
HE issued him [the relationships of] lineage and marriage. And ever is
your Rabb in almighty control of all things and their measure.
25:55
Yet they serve others besides Allah, which can neither benefit them nor harm them. And the disbeliever is ever a backer against his
Rabb.
25:56
WE have sent
you not except as a conveyer of divine tidings and a warner.
25:57
Say, “I have not asked of you any reward for it— nothing except that whoever wills, may take to a path to his
Rabb.
25:58
And rely on the Ever-Living One—
HE WHO dies not. And extol
HIS almightiness with
HIS praise.
HE suffices
as One aware of the trespasses of
HIS free-willed servants.
25:59
—
HE WHO has created the heavens and the earth and that which is between the two, in six [heavenly] days and beyond that HE set HIS attributes to reign over all manifestation. [HE is]
Al Raḥmān! So then seek through
HIM, WHO is ever aware.
25:60
When it was said to them “Prostrate unto Al Raḥmān.” They said, “And what is Al Raḥmān? Are we to prostrate to what you order us to?” And their disdain increased. ۩
25:61
The Source of all blessings is
HE WHO placed constellations in the sky and rendered therein a lamp and a glowing moon.
25:62
HE it is
WHO made the night and the day a contrast for anyone who wants to contemplate [the Truth] or wants to be grateful.
25:63
And the devotees of
Al Raḥmān are the ones who walk the earth humbly,
and when the ignorant address them, they say, “[We wish you] peace [
Salaam].”
25:64
And the ones who pass the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer] before their
Rabb.
25:65
And the ones who say, “Our
Rabb, avert from us the punishment of
Jahannam.” For indeed, its punishment is ever an incurred penalty—
25:66
It is indeed wretched as a habitation and as a station.
25:67
And [the devotees of
Al Raḥmān are] the ones who when they spend, are neither wasteful nor miserly and are stably anchored between that.
25:68
And the ones who do not invoke another god alongside Allah, and do not kill the [divinely numbered] soul which Allah has declared sacred, except by the [just and specific] right, and do not commit adultery. And whoever
is doing that will meet the consequence of sin—
25:69
the punishment for him will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humbled
25:70
Except, for one who has repented and has embraced Faith and has done righteous work. For such, Allah displaces their misdeeds with beautiful deeds. And ever is Allah forgiving, all-merciful.
25:71
And he who has repented and acted righteously, he is thereby turning unto Allah [demonstrably] repentant.
25:72
And [the devotees of
Al Raḥmān are] the ones who do not testify to forged lies, and when they pass by the frivolous, they pass on with dignity.
25:73
And the ones who, when admonished with the verses of their
Rabb, do not fall deaf and blind thereat.
25:74
And the ones who pray, “Our
Rabb, gift unto us the sights to savor from our spouses and our children and make us worthy to be exemplary for the God-conscious.
25:75
Those will be rewarded with the high abode [of Paradise] because they persevered. And they will be greeted therein with salutations and peace [
Salaam],
25:76
abiders therein. A beautified habitation and station [to attain].
25:77
Say, “What about you is my
Rabb to consider, if there be no supplication of yours? For you have already given the lie [to the Truth], so an aftermath is to be mandatory.”
