He (-Muhammad-) frowned and turned away
As there came to him the blind man, (interrupting).
How would you know? Probably he came you in order to be purified,
Or to receive admonition that might benefit him.
But the one who considers himself free from need,
You gave him too much attention.
Yet it is not your concern if he will not be purified.
But, as for the one who came to you, seeking for spiritual insight,
Being afraid (of the consequences of his disbelief),
Nay! It is indeed an admonishment.
Consequently, whoever wills will pay attention to it.
It is (mentioned) in Honorable Books,
Exalted and purified,
In the hands of scribes (the angels),
Noble and obedient.
Man seeks his own destruction. How ‘impious’ he is!
Of what substance did He create him?
Of a sperm-drop, He created him. Then He proportioned him.
Then He made the path easy for him.
Then He caused him to die and made a tomb for him.
Consequently, when He wills, He will bring him again to life.
Nay! Man has not fulfilled what Allâh has commanded him.
Let man look at his food!
We poured down water in abundance,
And then We split the earth in rifts,
Consequently, We caused to grow therein grain,
Grapes and green fodder,
Olive and date-palms,
Gardens of thick foliage,
A provision for you and your cattle.
But when the ‘Deafening Blast’ comes to pass,
On the day when a man runs away from his brother,
From his mother and his father,
From his wife and his children,
Since each one of them, that ‘day’, will have enough trouble of his own, which makes him careless of others.
Some faces, on that ‘day’, will be so bright,
Laughing and rejoicing and over the joyful news
While the other faces, on that ‘Day’, will have dust upon them
Being completely darkened by dust.
Those are the ‘impious’ flagrantly wicked
