Surah al-Buruj (The Mansions of the Stars, The Constellations) - Bridges Translation

85:1  By the sky full of constellations.

85:2  By the Promised Day.

85:3  By the witness and the witnessed—

85:4  may they perish: the fellows of the Trench

85:5  (of) the fire fed with fuel!

85:6  Recall when they sat around it,

85:7  witnessing what they were doing to the believers.

85:8  And they resented them only for believing in Allah the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,

85:9  to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Yet Allah is Witness over everything.

85:10  Indeed, those who have persecuted the believing men and the believing women, then have not repented—for them is the punishment of Hell, and for them is the punishment of burning.

85:11  Indeed, those who have attained faith and have done righteous deeds—for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; that is the supreme triumph.

85:12  Indeed, the onslaught of your^sg Lord is surely severe.

85:13  Indeed, it is He who originates and reproduces,

85:14  and He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Loving,

85:15  Possessor of the Throne, the Glorious,

85:16  Doer of whatever He wants.

85:17  Has there come to you^sg the story of the troops—

85:18  (that of) Pharaoh and Thamûd?

85:19  Rather, the deniers are in (a state of) disbelief,

85:20  while beyond them Allah is All-Encompassing.

85:21  Rather, it is a Glorious Recital,

85:22  in a preserved Tablet.
