58:1  Indeed, God has heard the speech of the one who argues with you concerning her husband, and complains to God. And God hears your dialogue. Indeed, God is hearing, seeing.

58:2  Those of you who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers, they are not their mothers; their mothers are only those who gave them birth; and indeed, they surely speak a wrong speech and a falsehood. But indeed, God is pardoning, forgiving.

58:3  And those who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers then would recall their speech, - then the freeing of a slave before they touch each other; that is what you are admonished with, and God is aware of what you do.

58:4  But he who does not find; - then a fast for two months consecutively, before they touch each other; but he who is not able; - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is that you may believe in God and His messenger; and these are the limits of God; and for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

58:5  Indeed, those who oppose God and His messenger shall be abased, as those before them were abased. And certainly, We have sent down clear signs: And for the disbelievers is shameful punishment.

58:6  On the day God shall raise them all together, and inform them of what they have done. God has counted it, while they forgot it; and God is witness over all things.

58:7  Do you not see that God knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth? There is no secret discourse of three but He is the fourth of them, nor of five but He is the sixth of them, nor less than that nor more, but He is with them wherever they are. Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, God knows all things.

58:8  Do you not look at those who were prohibited from secret discourse, then they returned to what they were forbidden? And they hold secret discourse for sin and enmity and rebellion against the messenger; and when they come to you they greet you with what God greets you not; and they say in themselves, 'Why does not God punish us for what we say?' Hell is enough for them. They shall broil in it, and evil is the destination.

58:9  O you who believe! When you hold secret discourse then do not hold secret discourse for sin and enmity and rebellion against the messenger; but hold secret discourse for righteousness and piety; and fear God, to whom you shall be gathered.

58:10  Secret discourses are only from the devil, that he may grieve those who believe, it cannot hurt them at all, except by the permission of God: and upon God let the believers rely.

58:11  O you who believe! When it is said to you, 'Make room in the assemblies,' then make room; God will make room for you; and when it is said to you, 'Rise up,' then rise up; God will raise those who believe among you, and those who are given knowledge, in rank; and God is aware of what you do.

58:12  O you who believe! When you hold secret discourse with the messenger, then send forth charity before your secret discourse; that is better for you, and more pure. But if you do not find, - then indeed, God is forgiving, compassionate.

58:13  Do you fear to send forth charity before your secret discourse? Then when you do not, and God relents towards you, then be steadfast in prayer, and give alms, and obey God and His messenger; and God is aware of what you do.

58:14  Do you not look at those who take for patrons a people God is wroth with? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to a lie while they know;

58:15  God has prepared for them a severe punishment; indeed they, evil is what they used to do.

58:16  They have taken their oaths as a covering, and they hinder from the way of God, so for them is shameful punishment.

58:17  Their wealth shall not avail them, nor their children at all, against God; they are the fellows of the fire, and they shall dwell therein.

58:18  On the day God raises them all together, then they will swear to Him as they swear to you; and they will think that they are on something. Lo, indeed, they are the liars.

58:19  The devil has overridden them, and made them forget the remembrance of God; those are the crew of the devil; Lo, indeed, the crew of the devil, they are the losers.

58:20  Indeed, those who oppose God and His messenger, those will be among the lowest.

58:21  God has written, 'I will surely prevail, I and my messengers.' Indeed, God is strong, mighty.

58:22  You shall not find a people who believe in God and the Last Day loving him who opposes God and His messenger, even if they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their tribe. Those - He has written faith in their hearts, and He has strengthened them with a spirit from Him; and He will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him; those are God's crew; lo, indeed, God's crew, they are the successful.
