48:1  Truly We have opened for you an opening most evident.
48:2  So that Allah may remit for you from your veils which came from before and which will come after and may complete His grace on you and may guide you to a path which is most upright.
48:3  And that Allah may help you with a help most mighty.
48:4  He it is who sent down the tranquility in the hearts of the believers so that they may increase in faith along with their faith and for Allah are the hosts of the heavens and of the earth and truly Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
48:5  So that He may cause the believing men and woman to enter gardens beneath which the rivers flow to abide therein forever and so that He may remove from them their evils and truly that in the sight of Allah is a most magnificent success.
48:6  And so that He may punish the hypocrites men and women and those who ascribe partners to Allah, men and women who think of Allah ill thoughts. Upon them is the circle of viciousness and Allah is wroth upon them and He has cursed them and has made ready for them the hellfire and how woeful is a place of ending.
48:7  And for Allah are the hosts of the heavens and of the earth and truly Allah is All-mighty, All-wise.
48:8  Truly We have sent you as a witness and as a bringer of glad tidings and as a warner.
48:9  So that you may believe in Allah and in His messenger and so that you may assist him and that you may hold him in esteem and that you may glorify Him, morning and evening.
48:10  Truly those who pledge allegiance to you, they are only pledging allegiance to Allah. Allah’s hand is above their hands. Whoever breaks his promise is only breaking it to the harm of his own soul but whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, truly He will soon grant him a magnificent reward.
48:11  Soon will the desert Arabs who were left behind say to you, “Our properties and by our families kept us engaged so ask forgiveness for us.” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, “Who has power over anything with Allah if He wills harm for you or if He wills benefit for you.” Nay! Truly Allah is All-acquainted with all that you do.
48:12  Nay you conceived that the messenger and the believers will never return back to their families and that was made seemly in your hearts and you conceived the ill-thought and you were a people of complete destitution.
48:13  And whosoever does not believe in Allah and in His messenger, truly We have prepared for the disbelievers a blazing fire.
48:14  And for Allah is dominion of the heavens and of the earth. He forgives whom He pleases and He punishes whom He pleases and truly Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
48:15  Those who were left behind would say, “When you set out towards the booties to seize them, let us follow you.” They want to change the word of Allah. Say, “You will never follow us.” Thus has Allah said before but they will say, “You are only begrudging us.” Nay they discern not except a little.
48:16  Say unto who were left behind from the desert Arabs, “Soon you will be called unto a people of mighty war you either fight them or they surrender and if you obey, Allah will give you a most excellent reward but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.”
48:17  There is no blame on the blind nor is there a blame on the lame nor is there a blame on the sick but whosoever obeys Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter into gardens beneath which the rivers flow but whosoever turns away, He will punish him with a painful punishment.
48:18  Indeed Allah was pleased with the believers as they pledged their allegiance to you under the tree and He knew what was in their hearts so He sent the tranquility on them and He rewarded them with a victory near at hand.
48:19  And many gains of war, they will take them and truly Allah is All-mighty, All-wise.
48:20  Allah promised you many gains of war that you will take but He hastened this one for you and He held back the hands of people [of Mecca] from you and so that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you to a path most upright.
48:21  And other [gains] which you were not able to have power over but Allah had them encompassed [in His power] and truly Allah has power over everything.
48:22  And if those who disbelieve were to fight you, they would have turned the backs [in flight] and then they will find no ally and no helper.
48:23  The rule of Allah which had gone forth from before and you will never find a change in the rule of Allah.
48:24  And He it was who held their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca after He gave you the upper hand on them and truly Allah is All-seeing about all that you do.
48:25  It was they who disbelieved and hindered you from the sacred mosque and the sacrifice held in check from reaching its destination. Were it not for believing men and believing women whom you knew not, lest you trample on them, and a sin will accrue on you because of them unknowingly so that Allah may make enter into His mercy whom He pleases and Had they stood out from one another We surely would have punished the disbelievers from among them with a painful punishment.
48:26  Since those who disbelieved put in their hearts the passionate zeal, passionate zeal of the ignorance but Allah sent down His tranquility upon His messenger and upon the believers and caused them to abide by the word of Taqwa [God Reverence] and they were most entitled to it and they were the ones to whom it belonged and truly Allah is All-knowing about everything.
48:27  Truly Allah fulfilled the vision by the truth for His messenger. You will surely enter the sacred mosque if Allah pleases in safety, shaving your heads or cutting it short, you will not fear. He knew what you knew not and He made before that a victory near at hand.
48:28  He it is who sent His messenger with the guidance and with the religion of the truth so that He may cause it to triumph over the religion all together and Allah suffices as a witness.
48:29  Muhammad messenger of Allah and those with him are firm against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating they seek favor from Allah and pleasure. Their marks are in their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their similitude in the Torah and their similitude in the gospel is like a plant which sends forth its shoot and then it supported it and then it grew stout and then it rose up straight on its stalk. It caused the farmers to marvel so that He causes the disbelievers to enrage by them. Allah promise those who believed and did righteous deeds from among them a forgiveness and a most magnificent reward.
