87:1
Extol the name of your Lord, the Highest,
87:2
who has created and given proportion,
87:3
who has directed and guided,
87:4
who has brought forth pasture
87:5
and turned it into brown straw.
87:6
We will make you recite so you will not forget
87:7
except what God wills. For God knows the apparent and the concealed.
87:8
And We ease you into what is most easy:
87:9
so remind, if reminder avails.
87:10
The God-fearing will be reminded,
87:11
but the most wretched will tum aside,
87:12
those who enter the greatest fire,
87:13
where they neither die nor live.
87:14
Happy are those who have purified themselves
87:15
and remember the name of their Lord and pray.
87:16
But you prefer the life of the world,
87:17
though the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
87:18
This is, in fact, in the books of the ancients,
87:19
the books of Abraham and Moses.
