49:1  O you who believe! Do not anticipate God and His messenger and fear God. Indeed God is hearing, knowing.
49:2  O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the prophet, and do not speak loud to him as you speak loud to one another, lest your works become vain, while you are not aware.
49:3  Indeed, those who lower their voices before the messenger of God, they are those whose hearts God has proved for piety, for them is forgiveness and a great reward.
49:4  Indeed, those who call you from behind the inner chambers, most of them have no sense;
49:5  And if they had been patient until you came out to them, certainly it would be better for them. And God is forgiving, compassionate.
49:6  O you who believe! If a disobedient one comes to you with information, verify it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then you awake repenting over what you have done.
49:7  And know that among you is the messenger of God; if he should obey you in many a matter, surely you would commit sin; but God has made faith beloved by you and beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief and disobedience and rebellion hateful to you. Those they are the rightly directed.
49:8  Grace from God and favour. And God is knowing, wise.
49:9  And if two parties of the believers quarrel, then make peace between both of them; then if one of them outrages the other, then fight the party that has committed the outrage until it returns to God's commandment; then if it returns, then make peace between them with equity, and be just: indeed, God loves the just.
49:10  The believers are only brothers, so make peace between your two brothers, and fear God; perhaps you may obtain mercy.
49:11  O you who believe! Let not one class ridicule another, perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule other women, perhaps they may be better than them; and do not defame each other nor call each other bad names - evil is the name, disobedience after faith. And whoever does not repent, then those they are the wrongdoers.
49:12  O you who believe! Avoid much of conjecture; indeed, some conjecture is sin. And do not spy, nor backbite each other; would one of you like to eat his dead brother's flesh? You would abhor it. And fear God; indeed, God is relenting, compassionate.
49:13  O mankind! Indeed, We have created you of male and female, and made you races and tribes that you may know each other. Indeed, the most noble of you with God is the one who fears most of you; indeed, God is knowing, aware.
49:14  The desert Arabs say, 'We believe.' Say, 'You do not believe; but say, "We have submitted."' For the faith has not entered into your hearts; but if you obey God and His messenger, He will not defraud you anything of your works; indeed, God is forgiving, compassionate.
49:15  The believers are only those who believe in God and His messenger, then do not doubt, and strive with their wealth and souls in the way of God. Those they are the truthful.
49:16  Say, 'Will you teach God your religion, and God knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth? And God knows all things.'
49:17  They count a favour upon you that they have submitted. Say, 'Do not count your submission a favour upon me; nay, God confers a favour upon you that He guided you to the faith, if you were truthful.'
49:18  Indeed, God knows the unseen of the heavens and the earth, and God sees what you do.
