| Arabic | | أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ نُهُوا عَنِ النَّجْوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ وَيَتَنَاجَوْنَ بِالْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ الرَّسُولِ وَإِذَا جَاءُوكَ حَيَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ اللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ لَوْلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا اللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُ حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ الْمَصِير |  |

| and they hold secret counsels | wayatanājawna | وَيَتَنَاجَوْنَ | ن ج و | |
| for sin | bil-ith'mi | بِالْإِثْمِ | ا ث م | |
| and aggression | wal-ʿud'wāni | وَالْعُدْوَانِ | ع د و | |
| and disobedience | wamaʿṣiyati | وَمَعْصِيَتِ | ع ص ى | |
| (to) the Messenger? | l-rasūli | الرَّسُولِ | ر س ل | |
| And when | wa-idhā | وَإِذَا | ا ذ ا | |
| they come to you, | jāūka | جَاءُوكَ | ج ى ا | |
| they greet you | ḥayyawka | حَيَّوْكَ | ح ى ى | |
| greets you | yuḥayyika | يُحَيِّكَ | ح ى ى | |
| and they say | wayaqūlūna | وَيَقُولُونَ | ق و ل | |
| themselves, | anfusihim | أَنْفُسِهِمْ | ن ف س | |
| punish us | yuʿadhibunā | يُعَذِّبُنَا | ع ذ ب | |
| we say?" | naqūlu | نَقُولُ | ق و ل | |
| Sufficient (for) them | ḥasbuhum | حَسْبُهُمْ | ح س ب | |
| (is) Hell, | jahannamu | جَهَنَّمُ | ج ه ن م | |
| they will burn in it | yaṣlawnahā | يَصْلَوْنَهَا | ص ل ى | |
| and worst is | fabi'sa | فَبِئْسَ | ب ا س | |
| the destination. | l-maṣīru | الْمَصِيرُ | ص ى ر | |
