AYAH at-Taubah 9:55

Arabic فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَلَا أَوْلَادُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ zoom
Transliteration Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum wala awladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahum biha fee alhayati alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona zoom
Transliteration-2 falā tuʿ'jib'ka amwāluhum walā awlāduhum innamā yurīdu l-lahu liyuʿadhibahum bihā fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kāfirūna zoom
Literal

 So (let) not impress you their wealth and not their children. Only Allah intends to punish them with it in the life (of) the world, and should depart their souls while they (are) disbelievers. zoom


Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
Muhammad Asad Let not, then, their worldly goods or [the happiness which they may derive from] their children excite thy admiration: God but wants to chastise them by these means in this worldly life, and [to cause] their souls to depart while they are [still] denying the truth. zoom
