Arabic فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ أُولَٰئِكَ يَنَالُهُمْ نَصِيبُهُم مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْ قَالُوا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا وَشَهِدُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا كَافِرِينَ zoom
Transliteration Faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba bi-ayatihi ola-ika yanaluhum naseebuhum mina alkitabi hatta itha jaat-hum rusuluna yatawaffawnahum qaloo ayna ma kuntum tadAAoona min dooni Allahi qaloo dalloo AAanna washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanoo kafireena zoom
Transliteration-2 faman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw kadhaba biāyātihi ulāika yanāluhum naṣībuhum mina l-kitābi ḥattā idhā jāathum rusulunā yatawaffawnahum qālū ayna mā kuntum tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi qālū ḍallū ʿannā washahidū ʿalā anfusihim annahum kānū kāfirīna zoom
Literal

 Then who (is) more unjust than (one) who invented against Allah a lie or denies His Verses? Those - will reach them their portion from the Book, until when comes to them Our messengers (Angels) (to) take them in death they say, "Where are those (whom) you used to invoke besides Allah?" They say, "They strayed from and they (will) testify against themselves that they were disbelievers. zoom


Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
Muhammad Asad And who could be more wicked than they who attribute their own lying inventions to God or give the lie to His messages? Whatever has been decreed to be their lot [in life] will be theirs -till there shall come _ unto them Our messengers to cause them to die, [and] shall say, "Where, now, are those beings whom you were wont to invoke beside God?" And [those sinners] will reply, "They have forsaken us!" -and [thus] they will bear witness against themselves that they had been denying the truth. zoom
M. M. Pickthall Who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah or denieth Our tokens. Muhammad Sarwar Who are more unjust than those who invent falsehoods against God and reject His revelations? These will have their share (of torment) which is ordained for them and when Our (angelic) Messengers come to them to cause them to die and ask them, "Where are those whom you had been worshipping besides God?" they will reply, "We had gone astray from the path of God." Bijan Moeinian Tell me; who is more unjust than the one who comes with a false statement [such as God has sent His only son to shed his blood for the salvation of mankind] and pretends that it is from the Lord [and in this way confuses millions of the people of the generations to come] or disregards God's commandments out of pride [reducing himself to the level of Satan who refused God's order to bow down at Adam]? Such people will continue to receive their provisions that I have appointed for them until their times come up and My angels appear to take their soul asking them: "Where are those miserable gods of yours [your king, boss, woman, money, children, etc.] whom you worshipped, to save you now?" They will reply: "They have got lost!" By witnessing thus against themselves, they will confirm their wrongdoings. zoom

Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim Who is more wrong than he who viscously and wrongfully relates to Allah falsehood or denies His revelations and signs betokening Omnipotence and Authority! Such persons do have what has been apportioned to them in life according to their good or bad books, just as they do have access to the share of the Book imparted to them by Our Messengers. And when Our angels of death disembody their souls at the predetermined point of time, they ask them: "where now are those you incorporated with Allah and invoked besides Him!". They have forsaken and renounced us " they say, and failed our expectation " So; they were witnesses of their own actions and of their deeds reflecting infidelity and disobedience to Allah. zoom
Mir Aneesuddin So who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah or denies His signs? Those are the persons whose portion of (that which is written in) the book (as destiny) will reach them till Our messengers come to them to take them back (at the time of their death), (when) they will say, "Where are those whom you used to pray to, besides Allah?" They will say, "They have gone away from us," and they will bear witness against themselves that they were infidels. zoom
