| Arabic | | اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَامًا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٌ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُور |  |

| the wealth | l-amwāli | الْأَمْوَالِ | م و ل | |
| and the children, | wal-awlādi | وَالْأَوْلَادِ | و ل د | |
| like (the) example | kamathali | كَمَثَلِ | م ث ل | |
| (of) a rain, | ghaythin | غَيْثٍ | غ و ث | |
| pleases | aʿjaba | أَعْجَبَ | ع ج ب | |
| the tillers | l-kufāra | الْكُفَّارَ | ك ف ر | |
| its growth; | nabātuhu | نَبَاتُهُ | ن ب ت | |
| it dries | yahīju | يَهِيجُ | ه ى ج | |
| and you see it | fatarāhu | فَتَرَاهُ | ر ا ى | |
| turning yellow; | muṣ'farran | مُصْفَرًّا | ص ف ر | |
| becomes | yakūnu | يَكُونُ | ك و ن | |
| debris. | ḥuṭāman | حُطَامًا | ح ط م | |
| the Hereafter | l-ākhirati | الْءَاخِرَةِ | ا خ ر | |
| (is) a punishment | ʿadhābun | عَذَابٌ | ع ذ ب | |
| severe | shadīdun | شَدِيدٌ | ش د د | |
| and forgiveness | wamaghfiratun | وَمَغْفِرَةٌ | غ ف ر | |
| and Pleasure. | wariḍ'wānun | وَرِضْوَانٌ | ر ض و | |
| (is) the life | l-ḥayatu | الْحَيَوةُ | ح ى ى | |
| (of) the world | l-dun'yā | الدُّنْيَا | د ن و | |
