A judge must not say to a guilty person, ‘You are not guilty.’ If he does say that, everyone will curse him. People of all nations will say that he is bad.

Don’t tell the wicked that they are innocent; people will curse you, and nations will hate you.
Whoever whitewashes the wicked gets a black mark in the history books, But whoever exposes the wicked will be thanked and rewarded.
If anyone says to a guilty person, “You are innocent,” people will curse him. Nations will denounce him.
Whoever says to the wicked, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations;
If they pronounce a guilty person innocent, they will be cursed and hated by everyone.
Peoples shall curse them that say to a wicked man, Thou art just; and lineages shall hold them abominable. (The peoples, or the nations, shall curse those who say to a wicked person, Thou art righteous; and the tribes, or all the people, shall hold them as abominable.)

A curse will fall on those who say the guilty are not guilty. Nations will ask for bad things to happen to them. People will speak against them.

Whoever says to the wicked, ‘You are innocent’, will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations;

Whoever says to a guilty person, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by people and condemned by nations.
He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” him the people will curse; nations will abhor him.
The people will turn against a judge who lets the guilty go free. Even the people of other nations will curse him.
Don’t say that the wicked have done right. People will curse you, and nations will hate you.
Whoever says to the guilty, “You are righteous,” the people will curse him; the nations will abhor him.
