Transliteration Allatheena itha asabat-hum museebatun qaloo inna lillahi wa-inna ilayhi rajiAAoona

Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
Muhammad Asad who, when calamity befalls them, say, "Verily, unto God do we belong and, verily, unto Him we shall return."
M. M. Pickthall Who say, when a misfortune striketh them: Lo! we are Allah's and lo! unto Him we are returning.
Shakir Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah's and to Him we shall surely return.
Yusuf Ali Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return":-
[Al-Muntakhab] Who lift to Allah their inward sight when befallen with a misfortune or a calamity, expressing themselves thus: "We belong to Allah and to Him shall we return".
[Progressive Muslims] The ones who, when afflicted with adversity, they Say: "We are to God and to Him we will return."
Abdel Haleem those who say, when afflicted with a calamity, ‘We belong to God and to Him we shall return.’
Abdul Majid Daryabadi Who, when there afflicteth them an affliction, say: verily we are Allah's, and verily unto Him we are returners.
Ahmed Ali Those who if a disaster/every thing hated struck them they said: "We are to God, and we are to Him returning."
