To have a longing desire for, to be affected with an intense emotion of grief or joy, emit a sound as a she-camel towards her young, have mercy/compassion/pity/tenderness of the heart, yearn towards, merciful/compassionate/favourably incline towards a thing, turn away or back from evil or mischief, to be mad or insane, to retreat in a cowardly fashion, do wrong or commit a mistake.

وَحَنَانا ً مِنْ لَدُنَّا وَزَكَاة ً وَكَانَ تَقِيّا ً
Wa Ĥanānāan Min Ladunnā Wa Zakāatan Wa Kāna Taqīyāan
And tenderness from Us, and purity, and he was ever righteous.

لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَة ٍ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْن ٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنْكُمْ شَيْئا ً وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُمْ مُدْبِرِينَ
Laqad Naşarakumu Allāhu Fī Mawāţina Kathīratin Wa Yawma Ĥunaynin 'Idh 'A`jabatkum Kathratukum Falam Tughni `Ankum Shay'āan Wa Đāqat `Alaykumu Al-'ArĐu Bimā Raĥubat Thumma Wallaytum Mudbirīna
God has granted you victory in many battlefields. And on the day of Hunayn when you were pleased with your great numbers but it did not help you at all, and the land became tight around you for what it held, then you turned to flee.
