n.m. pl. (no sing.)

9:90
Wa Jā'a Al-Mu`adhdhirūna Mina Al-'A`rābi Liyu'udhana Lahum Wa Qa`ada Al-Ladhīna Kadhabū Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Sayuşību Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Minhum `Adhābun 'Alīmun

And those who had an excuse from among the Nomads came so leave would be given to them, and those who denied God and His messenger simply stayed behind. Those who rejected from them will be inflicted with a painful retribution.

9:97
Al-'A`rābu 'Ashaddu Kufrāan Wa Nifāqāan Wa 'Ajdaru 'Allā Ya`lamū Ĥudūda Mā 'Anzala Allāhu `Alá Rasūlihi Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Ĥakīmun

The Nomads are the worst in rejection and hypocrisy, and more likely not to know the boundaries of what God has sent down upon His messenger. God is Knower, Wise.

9:98
Wa Mina Al-'A`rābi Man Yattakhidhu Mā Yunfiqu Maghramāan Wa Yatarabbaşu Bikumu Ad-Dawā'ira `Alayhim Dā'iratu As-Saw'i Wa Allāhu Samī`un `Alīmun

And from the Nomads are some who look upon what they spend as a fine, and wait for misfortune upon you. They will have the misfortune of evil, and God is Hearer, Knowledgeable.

9:99
Wa Mina Al-'A`rābi Man Yu'uminu Billāhi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Wa Yattakhidhu Mā Yunfiqu Qurubātin `Inda Allāhi Wa Şalawāti Ar-Rasūli 'Alā 'Innahā Qurbatun Lahum Sayudkhiluhumu Allāhu Fī Raĥmatihi 'Inna Allāha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun

And from the Nomads are those who believe in God and the Last Day, and he looks upon what he spends to make him closer to God, and the contact prayers of the messenger. It indeed makes them closer. God will admit them in His mercy; God is Forgiving, Merciful.

9:101
Wa Mimman Ĥawlakum Mina Al-'A`rābi Munāfiqūna Wa Min 'Ahli Al-Madīnati Maradū `Alá An-Nifāqi Lā Ta`lamuhum Naĥnu Na`lamuhum Sanu`adhdhibuhum Marratayni Thumma Yuraddūna 'Ilá `Adhābin `Ažīmin

And from among the Nomads around you are hypocrites, and from among the people of the city, they persist in hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We know them. We will punish them twice, then they will be returned to a great punishment.

9:120
Mā Kāna Li'hli Al-Madīnati Wa Man Ĥawlahum Mina Al-'A`rābi 'An Yatakhallafū `An Rasūli Allāhi Wa Lā Yarghabū Bi'anfusihim `An Nafsihi Dhālika Bi'annahum Lā Yuşībuhum žama'un Wa Lā Naşabun Wa Lā Makhmaşatun Fī Sabīli Allāhi Wa Lā Yaţa'ūna Mawţi'āan Yaghīžu Al-Kuffāra Wa Lā Yanālūna Min `Adūwin Naylāan 'Illā Kutiba Lahum Bihi `Amalun Şāliĥun 'Inna Allāha Lā YuĐī`u 'Ajra Al-Muĥsinīna

It is not advisable for the dwellers of the city and those around them of the Nomads that they should lag behind after the messenger of God, nor should they yearn for themselves above him. That is because any thirst that will come to them, or fatigue, or hunger in the cause of God, or any step that they take which will annoy the rejecters, or any gain they have over any enemy; it will be recorded as a good deed for them. God does not waste the reward of the good doers.

33:20
Yaĥsabūna Al-'Aĥzāba Lam Yadh/habū Wa 'In Ya'ti Al-'Aĥzābu Yawaddū Law 'Annahum Bādūna Fī Al-'A`rābi Yas'alūna `An 'Anbā'ikum Wa Law Kānū Fīkum Mā Qātalū 'Illā Qalīlāan

They thought that the Confederates had not yet mobilized. And if the Confederates do appear, they wish that they were out with the Nomads, seeking out news for you. Even if they were among you, they would not have fought except very little.

48:11
Sayaqūlu Laka Al-Mukhallafūna Mina Al-'A`rābi Shaghalatnā 'Amwālunā Wa 'Ahlūnā Fāstaghfir Lanā Yaqūlūna Bi'alsinatihim Mā Laysa Fī Qulūbihim Qul Faman Yamliku Lakum Mina Allāhi Shay'āan 'In 'Arāda Bikum Đarrāan 'Aw 'Arāda Bikum Naf`āan Bal Kāna Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrāan

The Nomads who lagged behind will say to you: "We were preoccupied with our money and our family, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then would possess any power for you against God if He wanted harm to afflict you or if He wanted benefit for you?" No, God is fully Aware of everything you do.

48:16
Qul Lilmukhallafīna Mina Al-'A`rābi Satud`awna 'Ilá Qawmin 'Ūlī Ba'sin Shadīdin Tuqātilūnahum 'Aw Yuslimūna Fa'in Tuţī`ū Yu'utikumu Allāhu 'Ajrāan Ĥasanāan Wa 'In Tatawallaw Kamā Tawallaytum Min Qablu Yu`adhdhibkum `Adhābāan 'Alīmāan

Say to those Nomads who lagged behind: "You will be called on to fight a people who are very powerful in warfare, unless they surrender. Then if you obey, God will grant you a good reward, but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful retribution."

49:14
Qālati Al-'A`rābu 'Āmannā Qul Lam Tu'uminū Wa Lakin Qūlū 'Aslamnā Wa Lammā Yadkhuli Al-'Īmānu Fī Qulūbikum Wa 'In Tuţī`ū Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Lā Yalitkum Min 'A`mālikum Shay'āan 'Inna Allāha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun

The Nomads said: We believe. Say: You have not believed; but you should say: We have submitted, for belief has not yet entered into your hearts. If you obey God and His messenger, He will not put any of your works to waste. God is Forgiver, Merciful.

12:2
'Innā 'Anzalnāhu Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan La`allakum Ta`qilūna

We have sent it down an Arabic Qur'an, perhaps you will comprehend.

13:37
Wa Kadhalika 'Anzalnāhu Ĥukmāan `Arabīyāan Wa La'ini Attaba`ta 'Ahwā'ahum Ba`damā Jā'aka Mina Al-`Ilmi Mā Laka Mina Allāhi Min Wa Līyin Wa Lā Wāqin

And as such, We have sent it down a law which is in Arabic. And if you follow their desires after what has come to you of the knowledge, then you will not have any ally or defender against God.

16:103
Wa Laqad Na`lamu 'Annahum Yaqūlūna 'Innamā Yu`allimuhu Basharun Lisānu Al-Ladhī Yulĥidūna 'Ilayhi 'A`jamīyun Wa Hadhā Lisānun `Arabīyun Mubīnun

And We are aware that they say: "A human being is teaching him." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign, while this is a clear Arabic tongue.

20:113
Wa Kadhalika 'Anzalnāhu Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan Wa Şarrafnā Fīhi Mina Al-Wa`īdi La`allahum Yattaqūna 'Aw Yuĥdithu Lahum Dhikrāan

And it was such that We sent it down an Arabic Qur'an, and We dispatched in it the warnings, perhaps they will become aware or it will cause them to remember.

26:195
Bilisānin `Arabīyin Mubīnin

In a clear Arabic tongue.

39:28
Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan Ghayra Dhī `Iwajin La`allahum Yattaqūna

A Quran in Arabic, without any crookedness, that they may be righteous.

41:3
Kitābun Fuşşilat 'Āyātuhu Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan Liqawmin Ya`lamūna

A Book whose revelations are detailed, an Arabic Quran for a people who know.

41:44
Wa Law Ja`alnāhu Qur'ānāan 'A`jamīyāan Laqālū Lawlā Fuşşilat 'Āyātuhu 'A'a`jamīyun Wa `Arabīyun Qul Huwa Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Hudáan Wa Shifā'un Wa Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrun Wa Huwa `Alayhim `Amáan 'Ūlā'ika Yunādawna Min Makānin Ba`īdin

And had We made it a non-Arabic Quran, they would have said: If only its revelations were made clear! Non-Arabic and Arabic, say: For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, there is deafness in their ears, and they are blind to it. These will be called from a place far away.

42:7
Wa Kadhalika 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayka Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan Litundhira 'Umma Al-Qurá Wa Man Ĥawlahā Wa Tundhira Yawma Al-Jam`i Lā Rayba Fīhi Farīqun Fī Al-Jannati Wa Farīqun Fī As-Sa`īri

And thus We have inspired to you an Arabic Quran, so that you may warn the capital town and all around it, and to warn about the Day of Gathering that is inevitable. A group will be in the Paradise, and a group in Hell.

43:3
'Innā Ja`alnāhu Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan La`allakum Ta`qilūna

We have made it an Arabic Quran, perhaps you may comprehend.

46:12
Wa Min Qablihi Kitābu Mūsá 'Imāmāan Wa Raĥmatan Wa Hadhā Kitābun Muşaddiqun Lisānāan `Arabīyāan Liyundhira Al-Ladhīna žalamū Wa Bushrá Lilmuĥsinīna

And before it was the Book of Moses, a beacon and a mercy. And this is an authenticating Book, in an Arabic tongue, so that you may warn those who have transgressed, and to give good news to the righteous.
