83:1
Woe to the short changers
83:2
The ones who, when measuring their demand of men, expect in full
83:3
And when giving to them by measure or by weight, they impart a loss.
83:4
Do they not suppose that they are to stand resurrected—
83:5
for a transcendent day?
83:6
A day humankind is to stand before the
Rabb of all Realms.
83:7
No! Indeed, the record of the depraved is assuredly in
Sijjin
83:8
And what defines for you what
Sijjin is?
83:10
Woe that day to the truth-beliers
83:11
Those who deny the Day of Surrender and Reckoning.
83:12
And none denies it except every sinful transgressor.
83:13
When
OUR verses are recited to him, he says, “Fables of the earlier peoples.”
83:14
Certainly not! On the contrary, what they were earning has reigned over their hearts.
83:15
No! Surely, on that day they shall be the ones shut out from their
Rabb.
83:16
Then indeed, they will be the sure fuel of
Jaḥīm.
83:17
Then it will be said, “This is that which you were calling false.”
83:18
No! Indeed, the record of the virtuous is assuredly in
Illiyin
83:19
And what defines for you what
Illiyun is?
83:20
an engraved record.
83:21
The ones granted proximity [to God] witness it
83:22
Surely, the virtuous are assuredly in bliss
83:23
upon couches, looking on.
83:24
You will discern on their faces, the radiance of bliss.
83:25
They will be slaked from a wine, pure and sealed—
83:26
The last of it is [the fragrance of] musk. And for the sake of that— let the aspirants aspire
83:27
And its blend is from
Tasneem—
83:28
A spring by which drink the ones granted proximity [to God].
83:29
Verily, the ones who flouted divine guidance used to wonder at the ones who had embraced Faith.
83:30
When they passed by them, they would wink at one another.
83:31
And when they returned to their people, they returned savoring [what they did].
83:32
And whenever they looked at them, they said, “Surely these people are utterly lost,”
83:33
Even while they were not sent to be their keepers.
83:34
So, today, those had believed wonder at the disbelievers
83:35
On their couches, looking on
83:36
