69:1  The Hour of Truth!
69:2  What is the Hour of Truth?
69:3  And how would you know what is the Hour of Truth?
69:4  The people of Thamud and 'Aad denied [that there would be a] sudden calamity.
69:5  So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering blast.
69:6  And as for Aad, they were destroyed by a furious, roaring wind
69:7  which He unleashed against them for seven nights and eight days, nonstop. You could have seen its people lying dead as if they were hollow palm tree trunks.
69:8  Do you see anything left of them?
69:9  Then came Pharaoh and those before him, and the destroyed towns that indulged in sin.
69:10  They disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He seized them with an overpowering grip.
69:11  When the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship
69:12  To make it a lesson for you to remember, so listening ears may recall it.
69:13  Then when the Horn is blown with a single blast,
69:14  and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with one blow,
69:15  on that Day, the Hour of Truth will occur.
69:16  The heaven will split open on that Day, since it will be so frail.
69:17  And the angels will be round its edges. On that Day, eight of them will bear your Lord's Throne of His majesty above them.
69:18  On that Day you will be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden.
69:19  As for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, take my record and read it,
69:20  I expected that I would be held accountable."
69:21  So, he will have a pleasant life
69:22  in an elevated Garden,
69:23  its pickings are within easy reach.
69:24  "Eat and drink merrily for what you have done in days gone by."
69:25  As for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "I wish I was never given my record
69:26  and never knew what my account was.
69:27  If only death had really been the end.
69:28  My wealth has been of no use to me
69:29  and my power has vanished."
69:30  [God will say], "Seize him and shackle him.
69:31  Then drive him into Hell.
69:32  Then tie him with a chain whose length is seventy cubits."
69:33  For he would not believe in God, the Magnificent,
69:34  nor would he encourage feeding of the poor.
69:35  So he has no friend here this Day,
69:36  nor any food except scum,
69:37  that only sinners eat.
69:38  So I swear by what you see
69:39  and what you do not see
69:40  that this is the word of a noble Messenger.
69:41  And It is not the word of a poet; how little you believe,
69:42  nor the word of a soothsayer; how little you remember,
69:43  The gradual revelations of the Book, is from the Lord of the worlds.
69:44  Had he [the Messenger] falsely attributed some statements to Us,
69:45  We would have seized him by the right arm.
69:46  Then We would have slashed his lifeline,
69:47  and none of you could have protected him.
69:48  It [The Qur'an] is a reminder for the those who are mindful of God.
69:49  And We know that some of you will deny it.
69:50  It is a cause of great distress to the unbelievers.
69:51  And it is the Truth of certainty.
69:52  Exalt, then, the limitless glory of your Lord's magnificent name.
