35:1  All praise belongs to the originator of the heavens and the earth, appointer of the angels as message bearers, beings of [ethereal] wings— two, three and four. HE adds to the created realm what HE wills. Verily, Allah has almighty control over all things and their measure.
35:2  Whatever Allah releases of HIS mercy to humankind, there is none to withhold it. And anything HE withholds— there is no sender beyond HIM. HE is the almighty, the all-wise.
35:3  O humankind, remember Allah’s blessing on you. Is there any creator other than Allah? HE sustains you from the sky and the land. There is no god but HE. Then whence and how are you hoodwinked?
35:4  And if they deny you— surely too were denied messengers before you. And unto Allah are all matters being returned.
35:5  O humankind, the promise of Allah is reality. Hence do not let the earthly life delude you and do not let this persistent delusion delude you about Allah.
35:6  Indeed, Satan is your foe, so [all of you] take him as a foe. He invites his faction only that they be of the reapers of the Blaze.
35:7  The ones who have disbelieved, for them is a severe punishment. Whereas the ones who have embraced Faith and have done the right deeds, for them is forgiveness and a transcendent recompense.
35:8  So, what about one—unto whom is made appealing, the foulness of his conduct, whereby he has deemed it good? Thus does Allah [justly] set astray whom HE wills, and HE [mercifully] guides whom HE wills. So, let not your soul expend itself in sorrow over them. Verily, Allah is fully knowing of what they are engaged in.
35:9  Allah is the ONE WHO dispatched the winds, which then stir the clouds. Then WE drove them toward dead land, and thus with it WE gave life to the earth after its death. Likewise, is the Resurrection.
35:10  Whosoever has been wanting the might and honor [of this world]— the might and honor [to be had] belong to Allah, totally. Unto HIM ascends the pristine word, and the right deed elevates it. Whereas those who plan their dark schemes, for them is a severe suffering, while their scheming— it will be unproductive.
35:11  Allah created you from dust, then from a drop, then HE made you as mates. And not any female bears or delivers, except it is in HIS knowledge. And there is not one of any age, whose age is extended or lessened, except it is [all] in an indelible record. Surely, that is easy for Allah.
35:12  The two seas do not match up: this one is fresh and sweet, palatable is its drink, and this one is salty and bitter. Yet from each you eat fresh meat and extract ornamental finery which you wear. And in each you see the vessels as ploughs, that you may seek of HIS bounty and to enable you to be grateful.
35:13  HE gives the night passage into the day, and HE gives passage to the day into the night, and HE has made the sun and the moon subservient, each on course for a defined term. That is Allah, your Rabb. To HIM belongs all sovereignty, while those you invoke besides HIM, own not even the skin of a date pit.
35:14  If you call unto [the false gods], they do not hear your prayer. And had they heard, they would not have responded to you. And on the Day of Judgment, they will disown your association [of them with God]. And none can inform you [o man] in the manner of one all-aware.
35:15  O humankind, you are the needy ones with respect to Allah. Whereas Allah is the Self-Sufficient, the One worthy of all praise.
35:16  If HE so wills, HE can do away with you and bring about a new creation.
35:17  And that is not in any way mighty on Allah.
35:18  And no bearer [i.e., soul] will bear the burden of another. If a heavily laden [soul] calls out [for help] with its load—not anything of it shall be carried [by another], even if the other be one close by kinship or proximity. You can only warn the ones who are in awe of their Rabb, in all that is hidden from them yet fully manifest to HIM, and stay anchored in the formal prayer. Whoever has purified himself, he purifies himself only for his own soul, and unto Allah is the end [of all journeys].
35:19  The blind [of heart] and the one of insight are not on the same plane.
35:20  Not all layers of darkness, nor all light.
35:21  Not all shade, nor all heat.
35:22  And not on the same plane are all the living and neither all the dead [of soul]. Indeed, Allah can make whomever HE wills to hear, while you are not one to instill hearing into the ones in the graves.
35:23  You are not but a warner.
35:24  Of certain, WE have sent you with the Truth— as a bearer of divine tidings and as a warner. There is not a nation except a warner did pass through it.
35:25  And if they deny you, so did those before them deny the messengers who came to them with telling proofs, and with Zubur, and with the enlightening Book [of Scripture].
35:26  Then I seized the ones who had disbelieved. So then how was MY negation [of them]?
35:27  Have you not observed that Allah sent down water from the sky, then with it WE brought out fruits, differing in their colors? And amongst mountains are white streaks and red, varying in their hues, along with black, devoid of hue?
35:28  And likewise, amongst men, and native creatures, and livestock— varying are their colors. Only the truly knowledgeable amongst HIS devotees gain the true sense of the awe of Allah. Surely, Allah is almighty, forgiving.
35:29  Of certain, those who meaningfully read the Book of Allah and have been anchored in prayer and have spent— secretly and openly, [in God’s way] from what WE have provided for them, they are counting on a trade never to be unproductive—
35:30  That HE may faithfully pay them their due and grant them even more of HIS bounty. Behold! HE is forgiving, appreciative.
35:31  And that which we have revealed unto you of the timeless Book— it is the Truth, as a validator for what is present [with them] of it. Of certain, Allah, concerning HIS devotees, is fully aware, all-seeing.
35:32  Furthermore, WE caused the timeless Book to be inherited by those of OUR servants WE chose. [For the freewill given to each person], among them is such who does wrong to his soul, and among them is the straddler, and among them is such who excels in virtuous deeds— with Allah’s leave. That is the transcendent bounty.
35:33  Gardens of Eden— they enter them, adorned with bracelets of gold, and [adorned with] pearls, and their garb therein is silk:
35:34  While they said, “Praise belongs to Allah who has purged the mourning [of all partings] from us. Surely, our Rabb is truly forgiving and appreciative,
35:35  HE WHO has relocated us to the home of the ultimate stay, from HIS bounty. Not an illness touches us in it. Nor does any fatigue touch us in it.”
35:36  And the ones who had disbelieved, for them is the fire of Jahannam. No end set for them so they could die, and neither will any of its punishment be alleviated from them. Thus, do WE requite each ingrate.
35:37  They will cry for help therein: “Our Rabb, get us out, we will do right, to the exclusion of what we were doing [before].” Did WE not preserve you alive— long enough that whoever was mindful could mindfully reflect therein? And the warner came to you! Hence partake [the consequence of your doings]— for there is not any helper for the wrongdoers.
35:38  Surely, Allah is the knower of the unseeable of the heavens and the earth. Surely, HE is ever knowing of the bosoms’ inner holdings.
35:39  HE is WHO has made you viceregents on the earth. So, whoever is ungrateful, he owns his ingratitude. And their ingratitude adds nothing to the disbelievers with their Rabb except abhorrence. And their ingratitude adds nothing for the disbelievers except loss.
35:40  Say, “Have you considered your false gods, the ones you invoke besides Allah? Show me what of the earth they have created. Or do they have a share in the heavens.” Or have WE given them a book [of Scripture], so that they are upon some telling evidence from it? Nay, the wrongdoers promise one another nothing but a delusion.
35:41  Verily, Allah holds together the heavens and the earth against their free falling. And if the two free-fall, no one in HIS stead can hold the two. Surely, HE is ever forbearing, forgiving.
35:42  Whereas they had sworn by Allah, their most earnest oaths, that if there came to them a warner, they would most definitely be better guided than any one of the communities. Yet when the warner came to them, nothing else increased in them but [their] aversion
35:43  [In accord with an] arrogant defiance in the land, and a ploy of the wicked. And the wicked ploy does not beset any except its subscribers. Do they then expect anything except the fated way of the earlier peoples? For you will never find a revision in the laws of Allah, and never will you find any displacement of the laws of Allah.
35:44  Have they not traveled the earth to see how the end-fate of those before them was? They were more intense of power than them. It is not ever Allah, [not] HIM that anything in the heavens and the earth thwarts. Ever is HE all-knowing, in complete control of all things and their measure.
35:45  If Allah were to forthrightly seize humankind to account for what they have earned, HE would not leave any moving creature on its plane [of existence], but HE gives them time [to make amends] through to a defined term. So, when the end of their term is upon them, [surely then they will know] that Allah was ever seeing of HIS free-willed servants.
