33:1  O’ ‘Prophet’, act piously towards Allâh, and pay no attention to those who excessively indulge in disbelief and those who excessively indulge in hypocrisy,. Indeed, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
33:2  Follow that which is revealed unto you from your Lord. Indeed, Allâh is All-Aware of what you do.
33:3  Depend on Allâh with full trust, for Allâh is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs.
33:4  Allâh has not made for any man two hearts within him, nor has He made lawful for you to regard your wives whom you divorce as your (real) mothers, nor has He made lawful for you to regard the children whom you adopt as your (real) children. That is your saying by your mouths. But Allâh speaks the truth, and guides you to the right (path).
33:5  (As for your adopted children), call them by (the names of) their fathers. That is more equitable (& more rightful) in the sight of Allâh. However, if you do not know the names of their fathers, then they are actually your brothers in faith and your pals. (Allâh) will not impute sin upon you for that in which you have trespassed (unintentionally), but (only for) what your hearts (deliberately) do. Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
33:6  The ‘Prophet’ is closer to the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. And those related by blood, kinsmen, are more eligible (to inherit) in the ordinance of Allâh than (other) believers, and those who fled (from Mecca), except for what you may do some good things to your friends. This is written in the Book.
33:7  (Mention), when We took from the ‘Prophets’ their covenant, as well as from you, from ‘Noah’, ‘Abraham’, ‘Moses’ and ‘Jesus, son of Mary’. We took from them a solemn covenant,
33:8  So that He may question the truthful about their truth. He has prepared for those who lack faith in Allâh an agonizing chastisement.
33:9  O’ you who adhere firmly to Islamic monotheism, recall the grace of your Lord upon you when there came against you men of arms, and so We sent against them a wind and soldiers you could not see (i.e. ‘Angels’). Allâh is Ever All-Seer of what you do.
33:10  (Remember) when they came against you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes grew wild and hearts reached to the throats; and you started speculating (wrongly) about Allâh.
33:11  Then and there were the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ encountered hardship, and were severely shaken.
33:12  The ‘Hypocrites’ and those in whose hearts is a disease were saying: "Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ promised us nothing but deception."
33:13  A group among them said: “O’ people of Yathrib, there is no place for you to stay, thus, turn back." (Another) group among them asked the permission of the ‘Prophet’, saying: “Our homes are definitely vulnerable (to danger)." In fact, they were not vulnerable (to danger). Actually, they only wanted to run away.
33:14  If the enemy were capable of entering (the city) from all sides, and those (‘Hypocrites’) were tempted to disavow their faith, they would have done it without hesitation.
33:15  Verily they had already made a covenant with Allâh that they would not turn around and flee. (Making) a covenant with Allâh is a great commitment.
33:16  Say, (O’ ‘Muhammad’): “Fleeing will never ever avail you. However, if it happens that you flee from death or slaughter, then you will be given enjoyment only for a little while."
33:17  Say, (O’ ‘Muhammad’): "Who is the one who could protect you from (the punishment of) Allâh if he willed to harm you, or if He willed to show you mercy?” They will not find for themselves a guardian or a helper besides Allâh.
33:18  Allâh knows well those among you who impede others, and those who say to their brethren: "Come along to us", and who themselves barely take part in fighting.
33:19  They are niggardly towards you. Then when fear comes, you see them looking at you, their eyes rotating, like one who swoons of death. As soon as fear is gone, they rebuke you with sharp tongues. They are too niggardly in giving away from the wealth. These have not truly accepted Allâh into their life, and so Allâh caused their deeds to be null and void. And that is too easy for Allâh.
33:20  They think that the confederate tribes have not yet withdrawn, and if the confederate tribes should advance (again), they would wish they were in the desert among the Bedouin Arabs , asking for news about you. Even if they were among you, they would not fight except for a little.
33:21  Verily, in the ‘Messenger’ of Allâh, you have an excellent epitome for any one whose hope in Allâh and the ‘Last Day, and who celebrates the praise of Allâh and declares His glory frequently.
33:22  When the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ saw the confederate tribes, they said: “This is what Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ promised us, and Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ spoke the truth." And this only invigorated their faith and their submission (to Allâh).
33:23  Among the ‘Monotheistic Believers’, there are men who are true to their covenant with Allâh. Some of them have already passed away while others are still waiting; and they have not changed in the least,
33:24  That Allâh may recompense the truthful for their truthfulness, and chastise the ‘Hypocrites’ if He wills, or accepts their repentance. Indeed, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
33:25  Allâh drove back those who lack Faith (in Him) in their rage, without gaining any tangible benefit. And Allâh spared the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ from fighting, For Allâh is Ever All-Strong, All-Mighty.
33:26  And He drove down those of the people of the ‘Scripture’ who supported them from their own fortresses; and He cast consternation into their hearts. Some of them you slew and some you took captive.
33:27  He caused you to inherit their land, their houses and their wealth, as well as a land which you had not trodden (before). Allâh is capable of doing whatever He wills.
33:28  O’ ‘Prophet’, say unto your wives, “If it happens that you desire this ‘worldly life’ and its adornment, then come, let me compensate you equitably, and allow you to go in an amicable manner!
33:29  However, if it happens that you prefer Allâh and His ‘Messenger’, as well as the last abode of the ‘Hereafter’, (then you'll need to know that) Allâh has prepared a great reward for those of you who attain perfection in righteousness /or in Faith.
33:30  O’ ‘Wives of the Prophet’, Whoever of you commits an act of indecency, the retribution will be doubled for her. And that is ever easy for Allâh.
33:31  Whoever of you obeys Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ and does righteous good deed, We shall give her a twofold reward, and We have prepared for her an opulent sustenance.
33:32  O’ ‘Wives of the Prophet’, you are not like any other women. If you (intend to be a model of) Pious behavior, then do not speak softly (to men), lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak in decent and respectable way.
33:33  Stay (peacefully) in your houses and unleash not your feminine charm like that of the former times of ignorance. Establish the regular Prayer, pay Zakāt, and obey Allâh and His ‘Messenger’. Allâh intends to keep the impurity away from you, O’ People of the Household (of the ‘Prophet’), and to purify you (completely) with purification.
33:34  Remember that which is recited in your houses of the (Holy) ‘Verses’ of Allâh and the wisdom. Indeed, Allâh is All-Subtle, All-Aware.
33:35  For Muslim men and women,- for the monotheistic men and women, for the obedient men and women, for the truthful men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for the philanthropic men and women, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who celebrate the praise of Allâh very often,- for them all has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.
33:36  It is not adequate for a monotheistic believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allâh and His ‘Messenger’, to have any choice regarding their decision. If it happens that any one disobeys Allâh and His Messenger, (he’ll need to know that) he has gone far astray.
33:37  And (recall the time) when you said unto the one to whom Allâh had shown favor you (too) had shown favour: "Retain your wife for yourself and act piously towards Allâh," while you hid within yourself what Allâh will divulge. You are so much concerned about (what) people (will say) whereas you should be more concerned about what Allâh (has commanded you). So when Zayd dissolved her marriage-tie, We gave her in marriage to you, so that there would be no impediment for the monotheistic believer from getting married to the wives of their adopted sons when they dissolved their marriage-tie. The commandment of Allâh is bound to be fulfilled.
33:38  There is no blame on the ‘Prophet’ in that which Allâh has made it lawful for him. That has been the (divine) procedure of Allâh with those who have gone before. The command of Allâh is preordained destiny.
33:39  Those who convey (& promulgate) the messages of Allâh do show honor and reverence for Allâh. They show reverence for none except Allâh. And Sufficient is Allâh in keeping the account.
33:40  ‘Muhammad’ is not the father of any man among you, but he is the ‘Messenger’ of Allâh and the Seal of the ‘Prophets’. Allâh is Ever All-Aware of everything.
33:41  O’ you who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism, celebrate the praise of Allâh, and do this often;
33:42  And glorify Him with praise day and night.
33:43  He is the One Who sends blessing upon you, and His ‘Angels’ too, in order to bring you out of darkness into light. He is Ever Most Merciful to the ‘Monotheistic Believers’.
33:44  Their salutation on the day when they will meet Him will be, "Peace". He has prepared for them a bounteous reward.
33:45  O’ ‘Prophet’, Surely We have sent you as a witness, a herald and a warner,
33:46  And as one who invites you to submit to Allâh by His permission and as an illuminating lamp.
33:47  Give to those who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism the joyful news that they will have great bounty from Allâh.
33:48  Pay no attention to those who excessively indulge in disbelief and those who excessively indulge in hypocrisy, and leave aside their annoyances. Depend on Allâh with full trust. Sufficient is Allâh as a Trustee of Affairs.
33:49  O’ you who who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism, when you wed monotheistic women and then divorce them before touching them, they do not have to comply with the waiting period. But compensate them equitably, and let them go in an amicable manner.
33:50  O’ ‘Prophet’, We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you have given their due their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses of those whom Allâh has given you as spoils of war, as well as the daughters of your paternal uncle, the daughters of your paternal aunts, the daughters of your maternal uncle, the daughters of your maternal aunts who migrated (from Mecca) with you, and a believing woman if she offers herself to the ‘Prophet’, and the ‘Prophet’ desires to wed her; a privilege for you only, not for the (rest of) the ‘Monotheistic Believers’. Indeed We know perfectly well what We have ordained for them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess so that there will be no blame on you. Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
33:51  You may defer whom you will of them or take to yourself whom you will. Whomsoever you desire of those whom you have set aside, there will be no blame on you (in receiving her). That is more adequate so that they may be comforted and may not grieve, and that every one of them should be well-pleased with what you give her. Allâh knows perfectly well what is in your hearts. Allâh is Ever All-Knowing, Most Forbearing.
33:52  It is not lawful for you to take wives after this, nor to change them for other wives, even though their beauty might enamor you, save those whom your right hand possesses. Allâh is ever Watchful over all things.
33:53  O’ you who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism, enter not the houses of the ‘Prophet’ unless permission is given to you for a meal, not waiting for its preparation. However, when you are invited, enter, and when you have taken your meals, disperse without seeking to remain there or to strike up a conversation. Indeed, such (behavior) annoys the ‘Prophet’ and he feels embarrassed to ask you (to leave), but Allâh is not embarrassed to tell you the truth. When you want to ask something from the ‘Wives of the Prophet’, ask them from behind a curtain. This is more perspicuous for your hearts and their hearts. You are not supposed to give trouble to the ‘Prophet' or to ever wed his wives after his death. Absolutely, that would be, in the sight of Allâh, an atrocious thing.
33:54  Whether you disclose a thing or conceal it, indeed, Allâh is Ever All-Knowing of everything.
33:55  There is no blame (on the ‘Prophet’s Wives’ if they appear unveiled) before their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their fellow Muslim women, or of what their right hands possess. (O’ women) act piously towards Allâh. Indeed, Allâh is Ever All-Witness over everything.
33:56  Indeed, Allâh and His ‘Angels’ send blessings on the ‘Prophet’. O’ you who adhere to Islamic Monotheism, call for blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of Peace.
33:57  Indeed, those who annoy Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ -, Allâh has cursed them in this ‘worldly life’ and the ‘Hereafter’. And He has prepared for them a humiliating chastisement.
33:58  And those who cause hurt to the monotheistic men and women undeservedly bear on themselves the guilt of defamation and blatant sin.
33:59  O’ ‘Prophet’, tell your Wives and Daughters, and the monotheistic women to draw their veils close to them. It will be much better so that they may be recognized and not be harassed. Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
33:60  If it happens that the Hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and those who spread rumors in ‘Madinah’ relinquish not (such behavior), We will certainly incite you against them, then they will not remain your neighbors therein any longer.
33:61  Accursed, wherever they are found, they will be seized and slain violently.
33:62  That was the (divine) procedure of Allâh concerning those who have gone before you. Thus, you find no change in the (divine) procedure of Allâh.
33:63  People ask you concerning the (Inevitable) ‘Hour’ (of Reckoning), say: “The knowledge of it is with Allâh only, and what would make you understand? It may be that the (Inevitable) ‘Hour’(of Reckoning) is nigh."
33:64  Indeed, Allâh has cursed those who lack Faith (in Him), and prepared for them a blazing Fire.
33:65  They will abide therein. They will not find a protector or a helper.
33:66  On the day when their faces will be turned from side to side on the Fire, they will say, "Oh, would that we had obeyed Allâh and the ‘Messenger’."
33:67  They will also say: "Our Lord, we only obeyed our chiefs and our great men, and so they led us astray from the (right) path.
33:68  Our Lord, give them double of the divine retribution, and anathematize them with an immense curse."
33:69  O’ you who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism, be not like those who vilified ‘Moses’, but Allâh has cleared him of what they alleged. And he was, in the sight of Allâh, a venerable person.
33:70  O’ you who adhere firmly to Islamic Monotheism, act piously towards Allâh and speak words straight to the point.
33:71  He will rectify your deeds for you, and redeem you from your sins. Whoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger has certainly achieved a mighty triumph.
33:72  Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens, to the earth and to the mountains, but they refused to bear it and were apprehensive of it. Thus, man bore it. Indeed, he was iniquitous (towards himself) and ignorant (of the consequences)
33:73  So that Allâh will chastise the hypocritical men and women, the polytheistic men and women. And Allâh will turn (in mercy) unto the monotheistic men and women. Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
