13:1  Alif-Lam-Meem-Ra. These are the Verses of the book (the Qur’an), and that which has been revealed to you (Muhammad) from your Lord is the truth, but most people don’t believe.
13:2  Allah is the one Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He rose above the Throne and has subjected the sun and the moon! Each is running (its course) for an appointed term. He manages all affairs. He explains in details the Verses that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.
13:3  And it is He who has spread out the earth, placed therein firm mountains and rivers, and made every kind of fruits 2 in pairs in it. He brings the night as a cover over the day. Surely, in these things, there are Verses for people who reflect.
13:4  And in the earth there are tracts side by side, gardens of vines, green crop fields and date-palms growing into 2 or 3 from a single stem root, or otherwise one stem root for every palm, watered with the same water, yet We make more excellent some of them than others in taste. Surely, in these things, there are signs for the people who understand.
13:5  If you (O Muhammad) wonder, then amazing is their saying: “When we are dust, shall we indeed be raised in a new creation?” They are those who disbelieve in their Lord! They are those who will have iron chains in their necks. They will be inmates of the fire, they will abide in it.
13:6  They ask you to hasten the evil before the good, and surely exemplary punishments have occurred before them. But surely, your Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind in spite of their wrong-doing. Surely, your Lord is Severe in punishment.
13:7  And those who disbelieve say: “Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a Warner, and to every nation there is a guide.
13:8  Allah knows what every female bears (in womb), and by how much the wombs fall short (of time) and what they exceed (of time). Everything with Him is in due proportion.
13:9  All-Knower of everything of the unseen and the seen, the Great, the High.
13:10  It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceals speech and declares it openly, and whoever hides by night or go freely by day.
13:11  For him, there are angels in succession, before and behind. They guard him by the command of Allah. Surely, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. When Allah wills for a people misfortune, there can be no turning away of it, and there is no protector for them besides Him (Allah).
13:12  It is He Who shows you the lightning as a fear (for travelers) and as a hope (for rain). It is He who brings up the heavy clouds (with water).
13:13  The thunder glorifies and praises Him, and so do the angels because of His awe. He sends the thunderbolts and strikes with it whom He wills. Yet they (disbelievers) dispute about Allah. He is Mighty in punishment.
13:14  For Him (alone) is the Word of truth. And those (deities) whom they (disbelievers) invoke besides Him, can not answer anything, except like the one who stretches forth its hands (at edge of well) for water to reach its mouth, but it does not reach it, and the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but an error.
13:15  And to Allah (alone) falls in prostration whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and in the afternoons.
13:16  Ask (O Muhammad): “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say: “Allah.” Ask: “Have you then taken (for worship) protectors other than Him who have no power for themselves either for benefit or for harm?” Say: “Is the blind equal to the one who sees? Or darkness equal to light? Or do they assign to Allah partners who created the like of His creation, so that the creation seemed alike to them?” Say: “Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Irresistible.”
13:17  He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface, and also from that ore they heat it in the fire in order to make ornaments or utensils, raises foam like to it. Thus Allah does set forth examples of truth and falsehood. As for the foam it passes away as scum upon the banks, while that which benefits mankind remains in the earth. Thus Allah sets forth examples.
13:18  (The reward) for those who answer their Lord’s call is Paradise. But those who don’t answer His Call, if that they had all that is in the earth together with its like, they would offer to save themselves (from the punishment). They are those for whom there will be the terrible reckoning. Their residing place will be hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest.
13:19  Shall the one who knows what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad) from your Lord is the truth, be like the one who is blind? But it is only the people of understanding that pay heed.
13:20  Those who fulfill the Covenant of Allah and don’t break the covenant
13:21  and those who join what Allah has commanded to be joined, fear their Lord, and are afraid of the terrible reckoning;
13:22  and those who remain patient seeking the pleasure of their Lord, establish prayers perfectly, and spend what We have bestowed on them secretly and openly, and they repel evil with good, they are those for whom there is the good home of the Hereafter;
13:23  gardens of Eden (Paradise), in which they will enter along with those who acted righteously from their forefathers, their wives, and their offspring. The angels will enter to welcome them from every gate,
13:24  (saying) “Peace be upon you for what you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!”
13:25  Those who break the Covenant of Allah after its approval, sever what Allah has commanded to join (bond of kinship), and work mischief in the land; they are those for them is the curse and for them is the evil home.
13:26  Allah increases the provision for whom He wills, straitens (it for whom He wills). They (disbelievers) rejoice in the life of the world; the worldly life as compared with the Hereafter is nothing but a brief enjoyment.
13:27  And those who disbelieve say: “Why not a sign is sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?” Say: “Surely, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides those who turn to Him in repentance,
13:28  those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, surely, in the remembrance of Allah hearts find rest.
13:29  Those who believe, and do good deeds, bliss is for them and a beautiful place of final return.”
13:30  Thus We have sent you (O Muhammad) to a community surely before it other communities have passed away, in order that you might recite to them what We have revealed to you, and they disbelieve in the Gracious (Allah). Say: “He (Allah) is my Lord! There is no one worthy of worship but He! In Him I trust, and to Him will be my return with repentance.”
13:31  And if there had been a Qur’an with it mountains could be moved, or with it the earth could be cloven asunder, or with it the dead could be made to speak (it would be the same Qur’an). But the decision of all things is certainly with Allah. Yet those who believe have not known that had Allah willed, He could have guided all mankind? A disaster will not cease to strike those who disbelieve because what (evil) they did or it (disaster) settles close to their homes, until the Promise of Allah comes. Certainly, Allah does not break His Promise.
13:32  And indeed many Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad), but I granted respite to those who disbelieved, then I seized them. So how (terrible) was My punishment!
13:33  Is it He who takes charge of every one by what he has earned it? Yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: “Name them! Or will you inform Him of what He does not know in the earth or is it just a show of false words?” Nay! To those who disbelieve, their plotting is made fair-seeming, and they have been hindered from the Right Way, and those whom Allah sends astray, there is no guide for them.
13:34  For them there is a punishment in the life of this world, and certainly their punishment in the Hereafter is harder. They have no protector against Allah.
13:35  The likeness of the Paradise which the pious have been promised (is): rivers flow beneath it, its provision is eternal, and so is its shade; this is the end (final destination) of those who are pious and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is fire.
13:36  Those whom We have given the book, rejoice at what has been revealed to you (the Qur’an), but there are those among the clans who reject a part thereof. Say (O Muhammad): “I am commanded only to worship Allah (alone) and not to join partners with Him. To Him alone I call and to Him is my return.”
13:37  And thus We have sent it (the Qur’an) down to be a judgment of authority in Arabic. Were you (O Muhammad) to follow their vain desires after the knowledge has come to you, then you will not have any protector or defender against Allah.
13:38  And indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad), and have made for them wives and offspring. It was not for a Messenger to bring a sign except by Allah’s permission. For each and every matter there is a Decree (from Allah).
13:39  Allah wipes out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the mother (master copy) of the book.
13:40  Whether We show you (O Muhammad) part of what We have promised them or cause you to die, your duty is only to convey (the message) and on Us is the reckoning.
13:41  Don’t they see that We are gradually reducing the land from its outlying borders? And when Allah judges, there is none to put back His judgment and He is Swift at reckoning.
13:42  And surely, those (disbelievers) who devised plots were before them, but Allah is planning all. He knows what every one earns. The disbelievers will know for whom will be the good end of the home (of Paradise).
13:43  And those who disbelieve, say: “You (O Muhammad) are not a Messenger.” Say: “Allah is sufficient for witness between me and between you and whoever has knowledge of the Scripture.”
