| 92:1 | | By the night when she lets fall her darkness, | | 92:2 | | by the day in full splendour, | | 92:3 | | by Him who created the male and the female: | | 92:4 | | surely your endeavours have divergent ends. | | 92:5 | | As for him who gives and is God-fearing | | 92:6 | | and believes in the truth of the ultimate good, | | 92:7 | | We shall smooth the way to perfect ease. | | 92:8 | | But as for him who is a miser and deems himself self-sufficient, | | 92:9 | | and rejects the truth of the ultimate good, | | 92:10 | | We shall smooth the way to affliction. | | 92:11 | | What will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave] . | | 92:12 | | It is for Us to give guidance, | | 92:13 | | and Ours is the life to come, and this first life. | | 92:14 | | I warn you, therefore, of the raging fire, | | 92:15 | | which none shall have to endure but the most hapless wretch, | | 92:16 | | who denies the truth and turns away. | | 92:17 | | Kept away from it will be him who is God- fearing, | | 92:18 | | who gives away his money to purify himself, | | 92:19 | | not in recompense of any favours done him by anyone. | | 92:20 | | but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Lord, the Most High. | | 92:21 | | He shall indeed be well pleased. |
