Abdul Majid Daryabadi rendition of Surah The Star(an-Najm)
---
53:1 By the star when it setteth
53:2 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred
53:3 And he speaketh not of his own desire
53:4 It is but a revelation revealed
53:5 One of mighty powers hath taught it him
53:6 One strong of make. Then he stood straight
53:7 While he was on the uppermost horizon
53:8 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down
53:9 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer
53:10 Thus He revealed Unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed
53:11 The heart lied not in that which he saw
53:12 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath Seen
53:13 And assuredly he saw him at another descent
53:14 Nigh Unto the lote-tree at the boundary
53:15 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode
53:16 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it
53:17 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded
53:18 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest
53:19 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza
53:20 And Manat the other third
53:21 What!-Unto YOu the males and Unto Him the females
53:22 That indeed is a division unfair
53:23 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come Unto them from their Lord the guidance
53:24 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for
53:25 Allah's is the last and the first
53:26 And many soever are angels in the heavens whose intercession shall not avail at all save after Allah hath given leave for whomsoever He listeth and pleaseth
53:27 Verily those who believe not in the Hereafter name the angels with the names of females
53:28 And they have no knowledge thereof; they follow but a vain opinion, and verily a vain opinion attaineth not aught of the truth
53:29 Wherefore withdraw thou from him who turneth away from Our admonition and seeketh not but the life of the world
53:30 That is their highest point of knowledge. Verily thine Lord! it is He Who is the Best Knower of him who strayeth from His way, and He is the Best Knower of him who letteth himself be guided
53:31 And Allah's is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may recompense those who do evil for that which they worked and reward those who do good with good
53:32 They are those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations save the minor offences. Verily thy Lord is of vast for giveness: He is Best Knower of you when He produced you out Of the earth, and when ye were embryos in the bellies of your mothers. So justify not yourselves; He is the Best Knower of him who feareth Him
53:33 Observedest thou him who turned away
53:34 And gave little, and then stopped
53:35 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth
53:36 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa
53:37 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled
53:38 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another
53:39 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth
53:40 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed
53:41 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense
53:42 And that Unto thy Lord is the goal
53:43 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep
53:44 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live
53:45 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female
53:46 From seed when it is emitted
53:47 And that upon Him is another bringing forth
53:48 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property
53:49 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius
53:50 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad
53:51 And that Thamud! He left not
53:52 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious
53:53 And the subverted cities He overthrew
53:54 Then covered them with that which covered them
53:55 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt
53:56 This is a warner of the warners of old
53:57 There hath approached the approaching Hour
53:58 None, except Allah, can avert it
53:59 At this discourse then marvel ye
53:60 And laugh and not weep
53:61 And ye are behaving proudly
53:62 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship
