70:1  A questioner asked concerning an imminent chastisement
70:2  For those who lack faith in Allâh, which none can avert,
70:3  From Allâh, the Lord of the Ascending Stairways.
70:4  The ‘Angels’ and the Spirit (Archangel ‘Gabriel’) ascend to Him in a day whereof the measure of which is fifty thousand years.
70:5  Therefore, resort to patience and constancy, (O' Muhammad), with an amiable patience.
70:6  Indeed, they see that (‘Day’) as a far-off (event).
70:7  While We see it very near.
70:8  The day will come when the heavens become like molten copper
70:9  And the mountains like flakes of wool.
70:10  And no friend would care about his close friend
70:11  Though they are made to see each other. The ungodly sinner wishes he would be able to ransom himself from the chastisement of that day by (sacrificing) his children,
70:12  His wife, his brother,
70:13  And his kinsfolk who sheltered him,
70:14  Even all the people on earth, if that would save him.
70:15  But nay! Indeed, it is a Flaming Fire,
70:16  Extremely eager for burning.
70:17  It will claim the one who takes in his self-deceived beliefs for the epistemic,
70:18  Hoarded wealth and withheld it.
70:19  Verily, man was created restless,
70:20  Extremely anxious when he is touched by evil,
70:21  Niggardly when he is touched by richness;
70:22  Except for those who pray (to Allâh),
70:23  And who are persistent in performing their prayer,
70:24  And in whose wealth, there is a known right
70:25  For the beggar and the needy,
70:26  And those who acknowledge (the existence of) the ‘Day of Judgment’,
70:27  And t
70:28  Indeed, the chastisement of their Lord is a thing not to be ignored-
70:29  And those who guard their chastity,
70:30  Except from their wives and those whom their right hands possess, in such a case they are not blameworthy,
70:31  But whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor;
70:32  And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant,
70:33  Those who act uprightly in their testimonies,
70:34  And those who always maintain their prayer.
70:35  These will settle in Gardens, honored.
70:36  But what is the matter with those who lack faith in Allâh that they rush madly before you
70:37  From the right and from the left, in crowds?
70:38  Does every one of them hope to enter the Paradise of Bliss?
70:39  Nay, indeed, We have created them out of what they know.
70:40  But nay! I swear by the Lord of the eastern and western regions that We are certainly able
70:41  To replace them by others better than them. We are not to be outrun.
70:42  Therefore, leave them alone to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their day which they are promised.
70:43  The day will come when they come out of the graves in haste as though they were racing to a goal
70:44  With their eyes lowered in fear and humility, while humiliation covering them. Such is the day which they are promised.
