69:1  The Inevitable
69:2  What is the Inevitable
69:3  And what should make thee know what the Inevitable is
69:4  The tribes of Thamud and Ad treated as a lie the sudden calamity
69:5  Then, as for Thamud, they were destroyed with a blast of utmost fury
69:6  And as for Ad, they were destroyed by a fierce howling wind
69:7  Which God caused to blow against them for seven nights and eight days continuously, so that thou mightest have seen the people therein lying prostrate, as though they were trunks of palm trees fallen down
69:8  Dost thou see any trace of them
69:9  And Pharaoh and those who were before him, and the overthrown cities persistently committed sins
69:10  They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, therefore, HE seized them - a severe seizing
69:11  Verily, when the waters rose high, WE bore you in the boat
69:12  That WE might make it a reminder for you, and that retaining ears might retain it
69:13  So that when a single blast is sounded on the trumpet
69:14  And the earth and the mountains are heaved up and then are crushed in a single crash,
69:15  On that day will the Great Event come to pass
69:16  And the heaven will cleave asunder, and it will be very frail that day
69:17  And the angels will be standing on its borders, and above them on that day eight angels will bear the Throne of thy Lord
69:18  On that day you will be presented before God; and none of your secrets will remain hidden
69:19  Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, `Come, read my record.
69:20  `Surely, I knew that I would meet my reckoning.
69:21  So he will enjoy a delightful life
69:22  In a lofty Garden
69:23  Whereof clusters of fruit will be within easy reach
69:24  It will be said to him, `Eat and drink joyfully because of the good deeds you did in the days gone by.
69:25  But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, `O, would that I had not been given my record
69:26  `Nor known what my reckoning was
69:27  `O, would that death had made an end of me
69:28  `My wealth has been of no avail to me
69:29  `My authority is gone from me.
69:30  The angels will be commanded: `Seize him and fetter him
69:31  `Then cast him into Hell
69:32  `Then bind him with a chain, the length of which is seventy cubits
69:33  `Verily, he did not believe in ALLAH, the Great
69:34  `And he did not urge the feeding of the poor
69:35  `No friend, therefore, has he here this day
69:36  `Nor any food save the washing of wounds
69:37  `Which none but the sinners eat.
69:38  But nay, I swear by that which you see
69:39  And that which you see not
69:40  That it is, surely, the word brought by a noble Messenger
69:41  And not the word of a poet; little is it what you believe
69:42  Nor is it the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you heed
69:43  It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds
69:44  And if he had forged and attributed any sayings to US
69:45  We would, surely, have seized him by the right hand
69:46  And then, surely, WE would have cut his life-vein
69:47  And not one of you could have held Our punishment off from him
69:48  And verily, it is a reminder for the righteous
69:49  And, surely, WE know that there are some among you who reject OUR Signs
69:50  And, verily, it will be a source of regret for the disbelievers
69:51  And, surely, it is the absolute truth
69:52  So glorify the name of thy Lord, the Great
