73:1  You who wraps himself [in his clothing],
73:2  stay up during the night, except for a little,
73:3  for half of it, or a little less,
73:4  or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly.
73:5  We will send a weighty message to you.
73:6  Rising at night has a stronger effect and is more conducive to concentration.
73:7  In the daytime, you are kept busy for long periods.
73:8  So remember to call upon the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly.
73:9  The Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but Him. So, assign to Him alone the power to determine your fate.
73:10  And patiently endure what they say, and withdraw from them politely
73:11  and leave those who deny the truth and live in luxury to Me. Just bear with them a little longer;
73:12  We have shackles and Hell
73:13  And food that chokes and a painful punishment reserved for them
73:14  on the Day when the earth and the mountains tremble, and the mountains become heaps of sand.
73:15  We have sent to you a messenger, a witness over you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
73:16  But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a crushing grip.
73:17  How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourself from a Day which will turn the children gray-haired?
73:18  A Day when the heavens will shatter. God's promise is always fulfilled.
73:19  This is a reminder, so let anyone who wills set a path towards his Lord.
73:20  Your Lord knows that you stay up praying nearly two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, along with a group of those with you. God justly evaluates the night and the day. He knows that you will not be able to sustain it, so He will not require it of you. Read from the Qur'an what you can. He knows that some of you may be ill; and others travelling through the land, seeking God's bounty; yet others will be fighting in God's cause. So read from it what is easy for you, and observe the prayers, and pay The purifying alms, and lend God a loan of goodness. Whatever good you advance for yourselves, you will find it with God, improved and increased for you. Ask God's forgiveness, for God is Forgiving and Merciful.
