63:1  WHEN THE hypocrites come to you they say: ‘We bear witness that you are assuredly God‘s apostle.‘ God knows that you are indeed His apostle; and God bears witness that the hypocrites are surely lying

63:2  They use their faith as a disguise, and debar others from the path of God. Evil is what they ever do

63:3  They believed and then renounced the faith: their hearts are sealed, so that they are devoid of understanding

63:4  When you see them, their good looks please you; and when they speak, you listen to what they say. Yet they are like propped-up beams of timber. Every shout they hear they take to be against them. They are the enemy. Guard yourself against them. God smite them! How perverse they are

63:5  When they are told: ‘Come, God‘s apostle will beg forgiveness for you,‘ they turn their heads and you see them go away in scorn

63:6  It is the same for them whether or not you ask forgiveness for them: God will not forgive them. God does not guide the ungodly

63:7  It is they who say: ‘Give nothing to those that follow God‘s apostle until they have deserted.‘ God‘s are the treasures of the heavens and the earth: but the hypocrites cannot understand

63:8  They say: ‘If we return to Madinah,¹ the strong will soon drive out the weak.‘ But strength belongs to God and to His apostle and to the faithful: yet the hypocrites do not know it

63:9  Believers, let neither your riches nor your children divert you from remembering God. Those that are so diverted will surely be the losers

63:10  Give, then, of that which We have given you before death befalls any you and he should say: ‘Reprieve me, Lord, for a short time, that I may give in charity and be among the righteous.‘

63:11  But God reprieves no soul when its term expires. And God is cognizant of what you do
