| Literal | And/by the messengers/sent/angles (F) , successively/sand dunes/elevated points . |
| |
|
| Yusuf Ali | By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit); |
| Pickthal | By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another |
| Arberry | By the loosed ones successively |
| Shakir | I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), |
| Sarwar | By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, |
| Khalifa | (Angels) dispatched in succession. |
| Hilali/Khan | By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. |
| H/K/Saheeh | By those [winds] sent forth in gusts |
| Malik | By the emissary winds, which are sent forth one after another.[1] |
| QXP | Witness are these Messages (to the Sublime Truth), sent forth one after another. |

| Qaribullah | By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), |

| 77:2 فالعاصفات عصفا |

| Literal | So the stormy/turbulent winds , violently/turbulently. |

| Yusuf Ali | Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, |
| Pickthal | By the raging hurricanes, |

| Shakir | By the raging hurricanes, |
| Sarwar | by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, |
| Khalifa | To drive the wind. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the winds that blow violently, |
| H/K/Saheeh | And the winds that blow violently |
| Malik | By the raging hurricanes.[2] |
| QXP | As they gain strength like a tempest. |
| Maulana Ali | Then those driving off the chaff! |
| Free Minds | Then the gusts that blow. |
| Qaribullah | storming tempestuously |

| Asad | and then storming on with a tempest's force! |
| 77:3 والناشرات نشرا |

| Transliteration | Waalnnashirati nashran |
| Literal | And/by the spreading/extending/winds (for clouds) , spreading out/extending. |

| Yusuf Ali | And scatter (things) far and wide; |
| Pickthal | By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; |
| Arberry | by the scatterers scattering |
| Shakir | Which scatter clouds to their destined places, |
| Sarwar | by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, |
| Khalifa | Stir up clouds. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; |
| H/K/Saheeh | And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] |
| Malik | By the winds that lift up and scatter the clouds to their distant places,[3] |
| QXP | And spread (the Truth) far and wide. |
| Maulana Ali | And those spreading (goodness), far and wide! |
| Free Minds | And all that is scattered about. |
| Qaribullah | and by the scatterers scattering (rain) |

| George Sale | and by those which disperse his commands, by divulging them through the earth; |

| Asad | Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, |
| 77:4 فالفارقات فرقا |

| Transliteration | Faalfariqati farqan |
| Literal | So the separated clouds/separators of right and wrong , separating. |
| |

| Yusuf Ali | Then separate them, one from another, |
| Pickthal | By those who winnow with a winnowing, |
| Arberry | and the severally severing |
| Shakir | Then separate them one from another, |
| Sarwar | by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong |
| Khalifa | Distribute the provisions. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. |
| H/K/Saheeh | And those [angels] who bring criterion |
| Malik | then separate them one from another.[4] |
| QXP | While distinguishing the Right from Wrong with a clear distinction. |
| Maulana Ali | Then those making a distinction! |
| Free Minds | So the separators which divide. |
| Qaribullah | then the criterion (the verses of Koran), separating |

| George Sale | and by those which separate truth from falsehood, by distinguishing the same; |
| JM Rodwell | And the distinguishers who distinguish; |

| Asad | thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, |
| 77:5 فالملقيات ذكرا |

| Transliteration | Faalmulqiyati thikran |
| Literal | So the throwing/throwing away a reminder/remembrance (delivering messages). |

|
| Yusuf Ali | Then spread abroad a Message, |
| Pickthal | By those who bring down the Reminder, |
| Arberry | and those hurling a reminder |
| Shakir | Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, |
| Sarwar | and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) |
| Khalifa | Deliver messages. |
| Hilali/Khan | And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, |
| H/K/Saheeh | And those [angels] who deliver a message |
| Malik | By those who bring down the reminder,[5] |
| QXP | In order to deliver the Reminder (into the hearts). |
| Maulana Ali | Then those offering the Reminder, |

| Qaribullah | and those (angels) dropping, reminding |

| 77:6 عذرا او نذرا |

| Literal | An excuse/fault or sins or (a) warning/notice. |

| Yusuf Ali | Whether of Justification or of Warning;- |
| Pickthal | To excuse or to warn, |
| Arberry | excusing or warning, |
| Shakir | To clear or to warn. |
| Sarwar | to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: |
| Khalifa | Good news, as well as warnings. |
| Hilali/Khan | To cut off all excuses or to warn; |
| H/K/Saheeh | As justification or warning, |
| Malik | either to remove the excuse or to convey the warning.[6] |
| QXP | Whether one erases his faults or sees the danger signs. ('Uzr' = Excuse = Justification = Good news = Reasoning = Attempt to get rid of one's shortcomings. 'Nuzr' = Warning = Posting danger signs). |

| Qaribullah | excusing or warning, |

| 77:7 انما توعدون لواقع |

| Transliteration | Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAAun |
| Literal | That truly what you are being promised (is) happening (E) . |

| Yusuf Ali | Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. |
| Pickthal | Surely that which ye are promised will befall. |
| Arberry | surely that which you are promised is about to fall! |
| Shakir | Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. |
| Sarwar | that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. |
| Khalifa | What is promised will come to pass. |

| Malik | Surely, that which you are being promised, shall be fulfilled.[7] |

| Shakir | So when the stars are made to lose their light, |
| Sarwar | Then the stars will lose their light. |

| Malik | It is going to be fulfilled when the stars will lose their light,[8] |

| Qaribullah | When the stars are extinguished, |

| Asad | Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, |
| 77:9 واذا السماء فرجت |

| 77:10 واذا الجبال نسفت |

| Literal | And when/if the mountains were uprooted and dispersed/exploded . |

| Yusuf Ali | When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; |
| Pickthal | And when the mountains are blown away, |
| Arberry | when the mountains shall be scattered |
| Shakir | And when the mountains are carried away as dust, |
| Sarwar | The mountains will be blown away as dust. |
| Khalifa | The mountains are blown up. |

| 77:11 واذا الرسل اقتت |

| Literal | And when/if the messengers were appointed a time. |

| Yusuf Ali | And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- |
| Pickthal | And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - |
| Arberry | and when the Messengers' time is set, |
| Shakir | And when the messengers are gathered at their appointed time |

| Khalifa | The messengers are summoned. |

| Yusuf Ali | Thus do We deal with men of sin. |

| Yusuf Ali | Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- |
| Pickthal | Did We not create you from a base fluid |
| Arberry | Did We not create you of a mean water, |
| Shakir | Did We not create you from contemptible water? |
| Sarwar | Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid |
| Khalifa | Did we not create you from a lowly liquid? |

| 77:21 فجعلناه في قرار مكين |

| Literal | So We made/put it in a highly positioned/established settlement/affixation . |

| Yusuf Ali | The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, |
| Pickthal | Which We laid up in a safe abode |
| Arberry | that We laid within a sure lodging |
| Shakir | Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, |
| Sarwar | and place it in a secure place |
| Khalifa | Then we placed it in a well-protected repository. |
| Hilali/Khan | Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), |
| H/K/Saheeh | And We placed it in a firm lodging |
