ash-Shu`ara' 026:002

‏26:2 تلك ايات الكتاب المبين

Transliteration	Tilka ayatu alkitabi almubeeni
Literal	Those are The Book's, the clear/evident verses/evidences .

Yusuf Ali	These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
Pickthal	These are revelations of the Scripture that maketh plain.
Arberry	Those are the signs of the Manifest Book.
Shakir	These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
Sarwar	These are the verses of the illustrious Book.
Khalifa	These (letters) constitute proofs of this clarifying scripture.
Hilali/Khan	These are the Verses of the manifest Book (this Quran, which was promised by Allah in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), makes things clear).
H/K/Saheeh	These are the verses of the clear Book.

ash-Shu`ara' 026:003

‏26:3 لعلك باخع نفسك الا يكونوا مؤمنين

Transliteration	LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka alla yakoonoo mu/mineena
Literal	Maybe/perhaps you (are) exhausting/destroying yourself from anger that they not be believing.

Yusuf Ali	It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.
Pickthal	It may be that thou tormentest thyself (O Muhammad) because they believe not.
Arberry	Perchance thou consumest thyself that they are not believers.
Shakir	Perhaps you will kill yourself with grief because they do not believe.
Sarwar	You will perhaps kill yourself with anguish because they are not accepting the faith.
Khalifa	You may blame yourself that they are not believers.
Hilali/Khan	It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers (in your Risalah (Messengership) and in your Message of Islamic Monotheism).
H/K/Saheeh	Perhaps, [O Muúammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
Malik	O Muhammad, you will perhaps fret yourself to death with grief because they do not believe.[3]
QXP	(O Prophet) Will you, (in your compassion), torment yourself to death because they refuse to believe in it?
Maulana Ali	Perhaps thou wilt kill thyself with grief because they believe not.
Free Minds	Perhaps you are grieving yourself that they do not become believers.
Qaribullah	Perhaps you consume yourself that they are not believers.

George Sale	Peradventure thou afflictest thy self unto death, lest the Meccans become not true believers.

ash-Shu`ara' 026:004

‏26:4 ان نشا ننزل عليهم من السماء اية فظلت اعناقهم لها خاضعين

Transliteration	In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina alssama-i ayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum laha khadiAAeena
Literal	If We want We descend on them from the sky an evidence/sign , so their necks continued/became to it bending/leaning .

Yusuf Ali	If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
Pickthal	If We will, We can send down on them from the sky a portent so that their necks would remain bowed before it.
Arberry	If We will, We shall send down on them out of heaven a sign, so their necks will stay humbled to it.
Shakir	If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their necks should stoop to it.
Sarwar	Had We wanted, We would have sent them a miracle from the sky to make their heads hang down in submission.
Khalifa	If we will, we can send from the sky a sign that forces their necks to bow.
Hilali/Khan	If We will, We could send down to them from the heaven a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
H/K/Saheeh	If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
Malik	If We wanted, We could send down upon them a sign from the heaven before which they would bend their necks in submission, but that is not what We want.[4]
QXP	Had We so Willed, We could have sent down to them a Sign from the sky, to which they would have bent their necks in humility. (But, that is not Our Design. We expect them to use their reason (12:108)).
Maulana Ali	If We please, We could send down on them a sign from heaven, so that their necks would bend before it.
Free Minds	If We wish, We could send down for them from the heavens a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
Qaribullah	If We will, We can send down on them a sign from heaven before which their necks will remain humbled.

George Sale	If We pleased, We could send down unto them a convincing sign from heaven, unto which their necks would humbly submit.
JM Rodwell	Were it our will we could send down to them a sign from Heaven, before which they would humbly bow.

Asad	Had We so willed, We could have sent down unto them a message from the skies, so that their necks would [be forced to] bow down before it in humility. [Inasmuch as the spiritual value of man's faith depends on its being an outcome of free choice and not of compulsion, the visible or audible appearance of a "message from the skies" would, by its very obviousness, nullify the element of free choice and, therefore, deprive man's faith in that message of all its moral significance.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:005

‏26:5 وماياتيهم من ذكر من الرحمن محدث الا كانوا عنه معرضين

Transliteration	Wama ya/teehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena
Literal	And none from a reminder initiated/originated from the merciful comes to them except they were from it objecting/opposing .

Yusuf Ali	But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.
Pickthal	Never cometh there unto them a fresh reminder from the Beneficent One, but they turn away from it.
Arberry	But never fresh remembrance comes to them from the All-merciful, except they turn away from it.
Shakir	And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but they turn aside from it.
Sarwar	Whenever a new message comes to them from the Beneficent God, they turn away from it.
Khalifa	Whenever a reminder from the Most Gracious comes to them, that is new, they turn away in aversion.
Hilali/Khan	And never comes there unto them a Reminder as a recent revelation from the Most Beneficent (Allah), but they turn away therefrom.
H/K/Saheeh	And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
Malik	They have been turning their backs on each fresh warning that comes to them from the Compassionate (Allah).[5]
QXP	And so whenever a Reminder comes to them from the Beneficent, they turn away from it.
Maulana Ali	And there comes not to them a new Reminder from the Beneficent but they turn away from it.
Free Minds	And not a reminder comes to them from the Almighty, except that they turn away from it.
Qaribullah	A fresh remembrance has never come to them from the Merciful, except they turn away from it.

George Sale	But where cometh unto them no admonition from the Merciful, being newly revealed as occasions require, but they turn aside from the same;
JM Rodwell	But from each fresh warning that cometh to them from the God of Mercy they have only turned aside,

Asad	[But We have not willed it:] and so, whenever there comes unto them any fresh reminder from the Most Gracious, they [who are blind of heart] always - turn their backs upon it:

ash-Shu`ara' 026:006

‏26:6 فقد كذبوا فسياتيهم انباء ماكانوا به يستهزؤون

Transliteration	Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
Literal	So they had lied/denied/falsified so (the) news/information (of) what they were with it mocking/making fun of, will come to them.

Yusuf Ali	They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!
Pickthal	Now they have denied (the Truth); but there will come unto them tidings of that whereat they used to scoff.
Arberry	So they have cried lies; therefore assuredly tidings will come to them of that they mocked at.
Shakir	So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them.
Sarwar	They have called (our revelation) lies. They will soon learn the consequences of what they mocked.
Khalifa	Since they disbelieved, they have incurred the consequences of their heedlessness.
Hilali/Khan	So they have indeed denied (the truth this Quran), then the news of what they mocked at, will come to them.
H/K/Saheeh	For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
Malik	But now that they have neglected the warning, they will soon come to know the reality of what they have been mocking at.[6]
QXP	Thus indeed have they rejected this Message. But in time they will come to understand what it was that they ridiculed.
Maulana Ali	They indeed reject, so the news will soon come to them of that at which they mock.
Free Minds	They have denied, thus the news will come to them of what they used to ridicule.
Qaribullah	So, they belied, but surely the tidings of that they mocked will come to them.

George Sale	and they have charged it with falsehood: But a message shall come unto them, which they shall not laugh to scorn.
JM Rodwell	And treated it as a lie: But tidings shall reach them which they shall not laugh to scorn.

Asad	thus, indeed, have they given the lie (to this message as well). But [in time] they will come to understand what it was that they were wont to deride! [See 6:4 -5 and the corresponding note.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:007

‏26:7 اولم يروا الى الارض كم انبتنا فيها من كل زوج كريم

Transliteration	Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kam anbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin
Literal	Do they not see to the earth/Planet Earth how many/much We sprouted/grew in it from every/each generous pair .

Yusuf Ali	Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?
Pickthal	Have they not seen the earth, how much of every fruitful kind We make to grow therein?
Arberry	What, have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of every generous kind?
Shakir	Do they not see the earth, how many of every noble kind We have caused to grow in it?
Sarwar	Have they not seen the earth in which We have made gracious plants grow?.
Khalifa	Have they not seen the earth, and how many kinds of beautiful plants we have grown thereon?
Hilali/Khan	Do they not observe the earth, how much of every good kind We cause to grow therein?
H/K/Saheeh	Did they not look at the earth how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
Malik	Have they not looked at the earth to see how We have caused all kinds of noble pairs to grow in it?[7]
QXP	Do they not see the earth how much of every fruitful kind We cause to grow therein?
Maulana Ali	See they not the earth, how many of every noble kind We cause to grow in it?
Free Minds	Did they not look to the Earth, how many plants have We raised in it, from each a good pair.
Qaribullah	Have they not seen the earth, how many We caused to grow in it every generous kind?

George Sale	Do they not behold the earth, how many vegetables We cause to spring up therein, of every noble species?
JM Rodwell	Have they not beheld the earth-how we have caused every kind of noble plant to spring up therein?

Asad	Have they, then, never considered the earth - how much of every noble kind [of life] We have caused to grow thereon?

ash-Shu`ara' 026:008

‏26:8 ان في ذلك لاية وماكان اكثرهم مؤمنين

Transliteration	Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mu/mineena
Literal	That in that (is) an evidence/sign (E) , and most of them were not believing.

Yusuf Ali	Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
Pickthal	Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers.
Arberry	Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers.
Shakir	Most surely there is a sign in that, but most of them will not believe.
Sarwar	In this there is, certainly, evidence (of the Truth). But most of them have no faith.
Khalifa	This should be a sufficient proof for them, but most of them are not believers.
Hilali/Khan	Verily, in this is an Ayah (proof or sign), yet most of them (polytheists, pagans, etc., who do not believe in Resurrection) are not believers.
H/K/Saheeh	Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Malik	Surely in this there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe.[8]
QXP	This is indeed a Sign, yet most of them are not believers (in the Almightiness of their Lord).
Maulana Ali	Surely in this is a sign; yet most of them believe not.
Free Minds	In that is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
Qaribullah	Surely, in this there is a sign yet most of them do not believe.

George Sale	Verily herein is a sign: But the greater part of them do not believe.
JM Rodwell	Verily, in this is a sign: but most of them believe not.

Asad	In this, behold, there is a message [unto men], even though most of them will not believe [in it].

ash-Shu`ara' 026:009

‏26:9 وان ربك لهو العزيز الرحيم

Transliteration	Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
Literal	And that your Lord He is (E) the glorious/mighty , the merciful.

Yusuf Ali	And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
Pickthal	And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.
Arberry	Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate.
Shakir	And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Sarwar	Your Lord is the Majestic and the All-merciful.
Khalifa	Most assuredly, your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.
Hilali/Khan	And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
H/K/Saheeh	And indeed, your Lord He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Malik	In fact your Lord is the Mighty as well as the Merciful.[9]
QXP	But, verily, your Lord is Almighty, Merciful. (Whether they believe or not He provides them with means of sustenance).
Maulana Ali	And surely thy Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Free Minds	And your Lord is the Noble, the Merciful.
Qaribullah	Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful.

George Sale	Verily thy Lord is the mighty, the merciful God.
JM Rodwell	And assuredly, thy Lord!-He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Asad	But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! [The above two verses appear eight times, in this surah. Apart from the present instance, they conclude, like a refrain, each of the subsequent seven stories of earlier prophets, which by means of their, in places, almost identical phrasing - are meant to stress the essential identity of the ethical teachings of all the prophets, as well as to illustrate the statement, in verse 5, that a rejection of God's messages is a recurrent phenomenon in the history of mankind despite the fact that His existence is clearly manifested in all living creation.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:010

‏26:10 واذ نادى ربك موسى ان ائت القوم الظالمين

Transliteration	Wa-ith nada rabbuka moosa ani i/ti alqawma alththalimeena
Literal	And when Moses called/cried (to) your Lord that: "Come/bring the nation the unjust/oppressive."

Yusuf Ali	Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-
Pickthal	And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk,
Arberry	And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers,
Shakir	And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people,
Sarwar	When Your Lord told Moses to go to the unjust people of the Pharaoh
Khalifa	Recall that your Lord called Moses: "Go to the transgressing people.
Hilali/Khan	And (remember) when your Lord called Moosa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doing),
H/K/Saheeh	And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], Go to the wrongdoing people
Malik	Remind them of the story when your Lord called Moses and said: "Go to the wicked people[10]
QXP	And recall when your Lord called Moses, "Go to the nation of the oppressors,
Maulana Ali	And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go to the iniquitous people --

ash-Shu`ara' 026:011

‏26:11 قوم فرعون الا يتقون

Transliteration	Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona
Literal	Pharaoh's nation, do they not fear and obey?

Yusuf Ali	"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"
Pickthal	The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)?
Arberry	the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?'
Shakir	The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)?
Sarwar	and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?".
Khalifa	"Pharaoh's people; perhaps they reform."
Hilali/Khan	The people of Firaun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?"
H/K/Saheeh	The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?
Malik	the people of Pharoah (Pharaoh). Have they no fear?"[11]
QXP	To the people of Pharaoh so that they may walk aright."
Maulana Ali	The people of Pharaoh. Will they not guard against evil?
Free Minds	"The people of Pharaoh. Will they not be righteous?"
Qaribullah	the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me? '

George Sale	the people of Pharaoh; will they not dread Me?

Asad	the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" [Lit., "Will they not be [or "become"] conscious (of me)?" Zamakhshari and Razi understand this rhetorical question in the sense apparent in my rendering, namely, as a statement of fact.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:012

‏26:12 قال رب اني اخاف ان يكذبون

Transliteration	Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni
Literal	He said: "My Lord, that I, I fear that they deny me .

Yusuf Ali	He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:
Pickthal	He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me,
Arberry	He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies,
Shakir	He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me;
Sarwar	He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar.
Khalifa	He said, "My Lord, I fear lest they disbelieve me.
Hilali/Khan	He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me,
H/K/Saheeh	He said, My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Malik	Moses submitted, saying: "My Lord! I fear that they will reject me.[12]
QXP	Moses said, "My Lord! I am afraid they will accuse me of lying.
Maulana Ali	He said: My Lord, I fear that they will reject me.
Free Minds	He said: "My Lord, I fear that they would deny me."
Qaribullah	'My Lord, ' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me

George Sale	Moses answered, O Lord, verily I fear lest they accuse me of falsehood,
JM Rodwell	He said, "My Lord, in sooth I fear lest they treat me as a liar:

Asad	He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie,

‏26:13 ويضيق صدري ولاينطلق لساني فارسل الى هارون

Transliteration	Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona
Literal	And my chest narrows/tightens and my tongue/speech does not speak/clarify, so send to Aaron .

Yusuf Ali	"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.
Pickthal	And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me).
Arberry	and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron.
Shakir	And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me);
Sarwar	I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me.
Khalifa	"I may lose my temper. My tongue gets tied; send for my brother Aaron.
Hilali/Khan	"And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Haroon (Aaron) (to come along with me).
H/K/Saheeh	And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
Malik	My breast feels cramped and my tongue is not eloquent; send Haroon (Aaron).[13]
QXP	I shall be embarrassed and I might not speak confidently, so send for Aaron to help me.
Maulana Ali	And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, so send for Aaron (too).
Free Minds	"And my chest would become tight, and my tongue would not be able to express; so send for Aaron."
Qaribullah	and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron.

George Sale	and lest my breast become straitened, and my tongue be not ready in speaking: Send therefore unto Aaron, to be my assistant.
JM Rodwell	And my breast is straitened, and I am slow of speech: send therefore to Aaron to be my helpmate.

Asad	and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. [Cf. 20:25 - 34 and the corresponding notes. In the present context, stress is laid on the deep humility of Moses, who considered himself incapable of fulfilling the task for which he had been chosen, and asked God to entrust it to Aaron instead.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:014

‏26:14 ولهم على ذنب فاخاف ان يقتلون

Transliteration	Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni
Literal	And for them on (against) me (is) a crime, so I fear that they kill me.

Yusuf Ali	"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."
Pickthal	And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me.
Arberry	They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.'
Shakir	And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me.
Sarwar	They have charged me (with a crime) for which I am afraid they will kill me."
Khalifa	"Also, they consider me a fugitive; I fear lest they kill me."
Hilali/Khan	"And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me."
H/K/Saheeh	And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me.
Malik	They have a charge of manslaughter against me and I fear they may put me to death."[14]
QXP	And they stick a charge against me, so I fear they will kill me." (28:15).
Maulana Ali	And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me.
Free Minds	"And they have charges of a crime against me, so I fear they will kill me."
Qaribullah	They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me. '

George Sale	Also they have a crime to object against me; and I fear they will put me to death.
JM Rodwell	For they have a charge against me, and I fear lest they put me to death."

Asad	Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." [Sc., "and thus frustrate my mission". This is a reference to Moses killing of the Egyptian, which was the cause of his subsequent flight from his native land (cf. 28:15 ff.)]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:015

‏26:15 قال كلا فاذهبا باياتنا انا معكم مستمعون

Transliteration	Qala kalla faithhaba bi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona
Literal	He said: "No but, so you (B) go/go away with Our verses/evidences/signs, that We are with you hearing/listening."

Yusuf Ali	Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).
Pickthal	He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing.
Arberry	Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening.
Shakir	He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing;
Sarwar	The Lord said, "Have no fear, both of you go with Our miracles. We shall closely listen to you."
Khalifa	He said, "No, (they will not). Go with My proofs. We will be with you, listening.
Hilali/Khan	Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening.
H/K/Saheeh	[Allah] said, No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
Malik	Allah said: "Indeed not! Proceed, both of you, with Our signs; surely We are with you, listening.[15]
QXP	Allah said, "Nay! Both of you go with Our Messages. We are with you."
Maulana Ali	He said: By no means; so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, Hearing.
Free Minds	He said: "It will not be. Go both of you with Our signs. I am with you listening."
Qaribullah	He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening

George Sale	God said, they shall by no means put thee to death: Wherefore go ye with our signs; for We will be with you, and will hear what passes between you and them.
JM Rodwell	He said, "Surely not. Go ye therefore with our signs: we will be with you and will hearken.

Asad	Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verify, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]!

ash-Shu`ara' 026:016

‏26:16 فاتيا فرعون فقولا انا رسولا رب العالمين

Transliteration	Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
Literal	So you (B) come to Pharaoh, so say (B): 'That we are messenger(s) (of) the creations all together's/(universes') Lord.'

Yusuf Ali	"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;
Pickthal	And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds,
Arberry	So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being;
Shakir	Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds:
Sarwar	They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengerss of the Lord of the Universe.

Pickthal	(Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us.

‏26:18 قال الم نربك فينا وليدا ولبثت فينا من عمرك سنين

Transliteration	Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena
Literal	He said: "Did we not bring you up in (between) us (as) a child/new born, and you stayed/remained in (between) us years from your lifetime?"

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us,
Arberry	He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life?
Shakir	(Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life?
Sarwar	The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years
Khalifa	He said, "Did we not raise you from infancy, and you spent many years with us?
Hilali/Khan	(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said (to Moosa (Moses)): "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us.
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said, Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
Malik	When they went to Pharoah and conveyed the Message of Allah, he said: "Did we not cherish you when you were a child? Did you not stay several years of your life among us?[18]
QXP	Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not rear you as a child among us? And you lived with us many years of your life.
Maulana Ali	(Pharaoh) said: Did we not bring thee up as a child among us, and thou didst tarry (many) years of thy life among us?
Free Minds	He said: "Did we not raise you amongst us as a new born, and you stayed with us for many of your years?"
Qaribullah	He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us?

George Sale	And when they had delivered their message, Pharaoh answered, have we not brought thee up among us, when a child; and hast thou not dwelt among us for several years of thy life?
JM Rodwell	He said, "Did we not rear thee among us when a child? And hast thou not passed years of thy life among us?

Asad	[But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life?

ash-Shu`ara' 026:019

‏26:19 وفعلت فعلتك التي فعلت وانت من الكافرين

Transliteration	WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena
Literal	And you made/did your one deed/act which you made/did, and you are from the disbelievers.

Yusuf Ali	"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"
Pickthal	And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates.
Arberry	And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!'
Shakir	And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful.
Sarwar	and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful."
Khalifa	"Then you committed the crime that you committed, and you were ungrateful."
Hilali/Khan	"And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates."
H/K/Saheeh	And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful.
Malik	Then you did what you did; you are so ungrateful!"[19]
QXP	And you did what you did, killing a man from our nation. You are of the ungrateful."
Maulana Ali	And thou didst (that) deed of thine which thou didst and thou art of the ungrateful ones.
Free Minds	"And you did what deed you did, and you are of the rejecters."
Qaribullah	Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did. '

George Sale	Yet hast thou done thy deed which thou hast done: And thou art an ungrateful person.
JM Rodwell	And yet what a deed is that which thou hast done! Thou art one of the ungrateful."

Asad	And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, [lit., "thou didst commit thy deed which thou hast committed" - a construction meant to express the speaker's utter condemnation of the deed referred to: hence, my interpolation of the word "heinous". As regards the above allusions to Moses' childhood and youth at Pharaoh's court, the manslaughter committed by him, and his flight from Egypt, see 28:4 - 22.] and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!"

ash-Shu`ara' 026:020

‏26:20 قال فعلتها اذا وانا من الضالين

Transliteration	Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena
Literal	He said: "I made/did it then, and (while) I am from the misguided."

Yusuf Ali	Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
Pickthal	He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray.
Arberry	Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray;
Shakir	He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course;
Sarwar	Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake.
Khalifa	He said, "Indeed, I did it when I was astray.
Hilali/Khan	Moosa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message).
H/K/Saheeh	[Moses] said, I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
Malik	Moses replied: "I did that when I was a misguided youth.[20]
QXP	Moses said, "Indeed I did it but I am lost how it happened!" (I only struck him once with a fist and he died (28:15)).
Maulana Ali	He said: I did it then when I was of those who err.
Free Minds	He said: "I did it, and I was of those misguided."
Qaribullah	He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray.

George Sale	Moses replied, I did it indeed, and I was one of those who erred;
JM Rodwell	He said, "I did it indeed, and I was one of those who erred:

Asad	Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray;

ash-Shu`ara' 026:021

‏26:21 ففررت منكم لما خفتكم فوهب لي ربي حكما وجعلني من المرسلين

Transliteration	Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena
Literal	So I escaped/fled from you when I feared you, so my Lord granted for me judgment/rule, and He made/put me from the messengers.

Yusuf Ali	"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
Pickthal	Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him).
Arberry	so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys.
Shakir	So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the messengers;
Sarwar	Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger.
Khalifa	"Then I fled, when I feared you, and my Lord endowed me with wisdom and made me one of the messengers.
Hilali/Khan	"So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers.
H/K/Saheeh	So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Malik	I fled from you all because I feared you; but now my Lord has granted me wisdom and appointed me as one of His Messengers.[21]
QXP	Then I fled from you in fear. Now Allah has given me a Command and appointed me one of His Messengers.
Maulana Ali	So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me judgment and made me of the messengers.
Free Minds	"So I ran away from you all when I feared you. So my Lord granted me judgment, and made me of the messengers."
Qaribullah	I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers.

George Sale	wherefore I fled from you, because I feared you: But my Lord hath bestowed on me wisdom, and hath appointed me one of his Apostles.
JM Rodwell	And I fled from you because I feared you; but my Lord hath given me wisdom and hath made me one of his Apostles.

Asad	and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong], and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. [As is shown in 28:15 -16, after having killed the Egyptian, Moses suddenly realized that he had committed a grievous sin (see also note on the last two sentences of 28:15).]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:022

‏26:22 وتلك نعمة تمنها على ان عبدت بني اسرائيل

Transliteration	Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee isra-eela
Literal	And that is a blessing/goodness you brag/remind me repetitiously of , that you enslaved Israel's sons and daughters.

Yusuf Ali	"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"
Pickthal	And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel.
Arberry	That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.'
Shakir	And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel?
Sarwar	And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves.
Khalifa	"You are boasting that you did me a favor, while enslaving the Children of Israel!"
Hilali/Khan	"And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel."
H/K/Saheeh	And is this a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?
Malik	Is it a favor with which you taunt me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"[22]
QXP	And this, the past favor you so tauntingly remind me! Yes, you raised me in your palaces. But it was so since you enslaved the Children of Israel."
Maulana Ali	And is it a favour of which thou remindest me that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel?
Free Minds	"And that was a favour that you held against me, so you could continue to enslave the Children of Israel."
Qaribullah	Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers! '

George Sale	And this is the favour which thou hast bestowed on me, that thou hast enslaved the children of Israel.
JM Rodwell	And is this the favour thou hast conferred on me, that thou hast enslaved the children of Israel?"

Asad	And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" [See 28:4 -5.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:023

‏26:23 قال فرعون وما رب العالمين

Transliteration	Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena
Literal	Pharaoh said: "And what (is) the creations all together's/(universes') Lord?"

Yusuf Ali	Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
Pickthal	Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds?
Arberry	Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?'
Shakir	Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds?
Sarwar	The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?".
Khalifa	Pharaoh said, "What is the Lord of the universe?"
Hilali/Khan	Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?"
H/K/Saheeh	Said Pharaoh, And what is the Lord of the worlds?
Malik	Pharoah said: "Who is this Lord of the Worlds?"[23]
QXP	Pharaoh said, "What is the Lord of the Worlds?" (20:49).
Maulana Ali	Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the worlds?
Free Minds	Pharaoh said: "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
Qaribullah	Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds? '

George Sale	Pharaoh said, and who is the Lord of all creatures?
JM Rodwell	Said Pharaoh, "Who then is the Lord of the Worlds?"

Asad	Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that `Sustainer of all the worlds'?" [A reference to the terms in which Moses was to - and apparently did - announce his mission (see verse 16 above).]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:024

‏26:24 قال رب السماوات والارض ومابينهما ان كنتم موقنين

Transliteration	Qala rabbu alssamawati waal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena
Literal	He (Moses) said: "Lord (of) the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth, and what (is) between them (B), if youwere sure/certain."

Yusuf Ali	(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."
Pickthal	(Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief.
Arberry	He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.'
Shakir	He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.
Sarwar	Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain".
Khalifa	He said, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. You should be certain about this."
Hilali/Khan	Moosa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty."
H/K/Saheeh	[Moses] said, The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced.
Malik	Moses replied: "He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you really care to believe."[24]
QXP	Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you allow yourselves to be convinced." (43:51, 79:24).
Maulana Ali	He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.
Free Minds	He said: "The Lord of the heavens and the Earth and all that is between them, if you are aware."
Qaribullah	'He' (Moses) replied: 'is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you believe! '

George Sale	Moses answered, the Lord of heaven and earth, and of whatever is between them: If ye are men of sagacity.
JM Rodwell	He said, "The Lord of the Heavens and of the Earth and of all that is between them, if only ye believe it."

Asad	[Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" [Sc., "by the evidence of His creative will in all that exists": this proposition being, I believe, the main reason for a repetition of the story of Moses in the present surah. (Cf. also verse 28 above.)]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:025

‏26:25 قال لمن حوله الا تستمعون

Transliteration	Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona
Literal	He (Pharaoh) said to whom (was) around/surrounding him: "Do you not hear/listen?"

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not?
Arberry	Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?'
Shakir	(Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear?
Sarwar	The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?".
Khalifa	He said to those around him, "Did you hear this?"
Hilali/Khan	Firaun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?"
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said to those around him, Do you not hear?
Malik	Pharoah said to those around him, "Do you hear that?"[25]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:026

‏26:26 قال ربكم ورب ابائكم الاولين

Transliteration	Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumu al-awwaleena
Literal	He (Moses) said: "Your Lord, and your first/beginning father's/forefather's Lord."

Yusuf Ali	(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
Pickthal	He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers.
Arberry	He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.'
Shakir	He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.
Sarwar	Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers."
Khalifa	He said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors."
Hilali/Khan	Moosa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!"
H/K/Saheeh	[Moses] said, Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.
Malik	Moses continued: "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers."[26]
QXP	Moses said, "Yes, He is your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors."
Maulana Ali	He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.
Free Minds	He said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers!"
Qaribullah	He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. '

George Sale	Moses said, your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers.
JM Rodwell	Your Lord, said Moses, "and the Lord of your sires of old."

Asad	[And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!"

ash-Shu`ara' 026:027

‏26:27 قال ان رسولكم الذي ارسل اليكم لمجنون

Transliteration	Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun
Literal	He (Pharaoh) said: "That your messenger who was sent to you (is) mad/insane (E)."

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman!
Arberry	Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!'
Shakir	Said he: Most surely your Messenger who is sent to you is mad.
Sarwar	The Pharaoh said, "The Messengers who has been sent to you is certainly insane".
Khalifa	He said, "Your messenger who is sent to you is crazy."
Hilali/Khan	Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!"
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said, Indeed, your messengerâ who has been sent to you is mad.
Malik	Pharoah interjected: "This Messenger of yours, who has been sent to you, is crazy."[27]
QXP	Pharaoh said, "Your Messenger that has been sent to you is a crazy man."
Maulana Ali	(Pharaoh) said: Surely your messenger, who is sent to you, is mad.
Free Minds	He said: "This messenger of yours who has been sent to you is mad!"
Qaribullah	(Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!'

George Sale	Pharaoh said unto those who were present, your Apostle, who is sent unto you, is certainly distracted.
JM Rodwell	In sooth, your Apostle whom He hath sent to you, said Pharaoh, "is certainly possessed."

Asad	[Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your `apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed!

ash-Shu`ara' 026:028

‏26:28 قال رب المشرق والمغرب ومابينهما ان كنتم تعقلون

Transliteration	Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona
Literal	He (Moses) said: "Lord (of) the sunrise/east and the sunset/west and what (is) between them (B) if you were reasoning/comprehending ."

Yusuf Ali	(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"
Pickthal	He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand.
Arberry	He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,'
Shakir	He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand.
Sarwar	Moses continued, "He is the Lord of the East and West and all that is between them, if only you would think".
Khalifa	He said, "The Lord of the east and the west, and everything between them, if you understand."
Hilali/Khan	Moosa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!"
H/K/Saheeh	[Moses] said, Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason.
Malik	Moses continued:" He is the Lord of the east and west, and all that lies between them. If you would only care and try to understand." [28]
QXP	Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West and everything in between. You would know if you use reason."
Maulana Ali	He said: The Lord of the East and the West and what is between them, if you have any sense.
Free Minds	He said: "The Lord of the east and the west, and what is between them, if you understand."
Qaribullah	'He is the Lord of the East and the West, ' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand! '

George Sale	Moses said, the Lord of the east, and of the west, and of whatever is between them; if ye are men of understanding.
JM Rodwell	He said, "Lord is He of the East and of the West, and of all that is between them, if ye can understand."

Asad	[But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two"- [Cf. 2:115.] [as you would know] if you would but use your reason!"

ash-Shu`ara' 026:029

‏26:29 قال لئن اتخذت الها غيري لاجعلنك من المسجونين

Transliteration	Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena
Literal	He (Pharaoh) said: "If (E) you took/received a god other than me, I will make you (E) from the imprisoned/prisoners."

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners.
Arberry	Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.'
Shakir	Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned.
Sarwar	Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison".
Khalifa	He said, "If you accept any god, other than me, I will throw you in the prison."
Hilali/Khan	Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners."
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said, If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned.
Malik	At this, Pharoah, who did not want to listen any more said: "If you serve any other god besides me, I shall have you thrown into prison."[29]
QXP	Pharaoh said, "If you choose a god other than me, I will put you in prison."
Maulana Ali	(Pharaoh) said: If thou takest a god besides me, I will certainly put thee is prison.
Free Minds	He said: "If you take a god other than me, then I will put you among the prisoners."
Qaribullah	'If you take any other god except myself, ' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison. '

George Sale	Pharaoh said unto him, verily if thou take any god besides me, I will make thee one of those who are imprisoned.
JM Rodwell	He said, "If ye take any God beside me, I will surely put thee in ward."

Asad	Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! [In the religion of ancient Egypt, the king (or "Pharaoh", as each of the rulers was styled) represented an incarnation of the divine principle, and was considered to be a god in his own right. Hence, a challenge to his divinity implied a challenge to the prevalent religious system as a whole.]

ash-Shu`ara' 026:030

‏26:30 قال اولو جئتك بشئ مبين

Transliteration	Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeenin
Literal	He (Moses) said: "Even if I came to you with a clear/evident thing."

Yusuf Ali	(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
Pickthal	He said: Even though I show thee something plain?
Arberry	He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?'
Shakir	He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest?
Sarwar	Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?".
Khalifa	He said, "What if I show you something profound?"
Hilali/Khan	Moosa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?"
H/K/Saheeh	[Moses] said, Even if I brought you proof manifest?
Malik	At this, Moses said: "What if I show you a convincing sign?"[30]
QXP	Moses responded, "Even if I bring to you all evidence of the Truth?"
Maulana Ali	He said: Even if I show thee something plain?
Free Minds	He said: "What if I brought you proof?"
Qaribullah	'What, even if I brought you something clear, ' said he (Moses).

George Sale	Moses answered, what, although I come unto you with a convincing miracle?
JM Rodwell	Said Moses, "What! if I shew thee that which shall be a proof of my mission?"

ash-Shu`ara' 026:031

‏26:31 قال فات به ان كنت من الصادقين

Transliteration	Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Literal	He (Pharaoh) said: "So come/bring with it if you were from the truthful."

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful!
Arberry	Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.'
Shakir	Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones.
Sarwar	The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth."
Khalifa	He said, "Then produce it, if you are truthful."
Hilali/Khan	Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!"
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said, Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful.
Malik	Pharoah said: "Go ahead, show it if you are of the truthful."[31]
QXP	He said, "Bring your signs if you are truthful."
Maulana Ali	(Pharaoh) said: Show it, then, if thou art of the truthful.
Free Minds	He said: "Then bring it forth if you are of the truthful ones."
Qaribullah	He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful. '

George Sale	Pharaoh replied, produce it therefore, if thou speakest truth.
JM Rodwell	He said, "Forth with it then, if thou speakest truth."

Asad	[Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!"

ash-Shu`ara' 026:032

‏26:32 فالقى عصاه فاذا هي ثعبان مبين

Transliteration	Faalqa AAasahu fa-itha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun
Literal	So he threw/threw away his stick/cane, so then it is (a) clear/evident snake.

Yusuf Ali	So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!
Pickthal	Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest,
Arberry	So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest.
Shakir	So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent,
Sarwar	Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent.
Khalifa	He then threw his staff, whereupon it became a profound snake.
Hilali/Khan	So (Moosa (Moses)) threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest.
H/K/Saheeh	So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
Malik	Hearing this, Moses threw down his staff, and thereupon it changed into a veritable serpent.[32]
QXP	Moses presented the Absolute Truth, vibrant with life. (7:107-108), (20:17-25), (28:31-32).
Maulana Ali	So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent;
Free Minds	So he cast his staff, then it manifested into a serpent.
Qaribullah	He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent.

George Sale	And he cast down his rod, and behold, it became a visible serpent:
JM Rodwell	Then threw he down his staff, and lo! an undoubted serpent:

Asad	Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible;

ash-Shu`ara' 026:033

‏26:33 ونزع يده فاذا هي بيضاء للناظرين

Transliteration	WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydao lilnnathireena
Literal	And he removed/pulled his hand so then it is white to the lookers/seers .

Yusuf Ali	And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
Pickthal	And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders.
Arberry	And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders.
Shakir	And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers.
Sarwar	Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers.
Khalifa	And he took out his hand, and it was white to the beholders.
Hilali/Khan	And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
H/K/Saheeh	And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
Malik	Then he drew forth his hand and it became shining bright for the spectators.[33]
QXP	He presented his powerful logic that shone bright.
Maulana Ali	And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the beholders.
Free Minds	And he drew out his hand, then it became white to the onlookers.
Qaribullah	Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers.

George Sale	And he drew forth his hand out of his bosom; and behold, it appeared, white unto the spectators.
JM Rodwell	And he drew out his hand, and lo! it was white to the beholders.

ash-Shu`ara' 026:034

‏26:34 قال للملا حوله ان هذا لساحر عليم

Transliteration	Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun
Literal	He said to the nobles/assembly around/surrounding him, that, that (is) a knowledgeable magician/sorcerer (E):

Yusuf Ali	(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:
Pickthal	(Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard,
Arberry	Said he to the Council about him, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer
Shakir	(Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician,
Sarwar	The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "He is certainly a skillful magician.
Khalifa	He said to the elders around him, "This is an experienced magician.
Hilali/Khan	(Firaun (Pharaoh)) said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer.
H/K/Saheeh	[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, Indeed, this is a learned magician.
Malik	After witnessing both the miracles, Pharoah (Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him: "This fellow is certainly a skilled magician,[34]
QXP	Pharaoh said to his chiefs, "He is a magical debater.
Maulana Ali	(Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him: Surely this is a skilful enchanter,
Free Minds	He said to the commanders around him: "This is a knowledgeable magician."
