| 19:98 وكم اهلكنا قبلهم من قرن هل تحس منهم من احد او تسمع لهم ركزا | |
| Transliteration | Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin hal tuhissu minhum min ahadin aw tasmaAAu lahum rikzan |
| Literal | And how many before them We destroyed from people of one era/generation/century, do you sense/feel from them from anyone, or hear for them (a) low voice/whisper/faint sound?214 |
| Yusuf Ali | But how many (countless) generations before them have We destroyed? Canst thou find a single one of them (now) or hear (so much as) a whisper of them? |
| Pickthal | And how many a generation before them have We destroyed! Canst thou (Muhammad) see a single man of them, or hear from them the slightest sound? |
| Arberry | And how many a generation We destroyed before them! Dost thou perceive so much as one of them, or hear of them a whisper? |
